Its not hindsight. Schenn was drafted largely on his NHL ready physical attributes. Myers was considered further away.
MDC was in a similar situation to Virtanen. Playing with older OHL players and putting up numbers. They graduate and he can't carry the load. - Lindenis#1

I can't stand WD's coaching tactics.
15 seconds left on the PP with an offensive zone draw in a tie game. Puts Prust-Cracknell-Dorsett on the ice.
His line usage in the playoffs was egregious.
Regularly comes out of TV timeouts and icings in the offensize and neutral zones with non-Sedin's on the ice in favour of his muckers. That isn't putting players in the best opportunities to succeed which is the entire point of a coach - Lindenis#1
not the entire purpose but I get what youre saying. Perhaps hes too used to junior and AHL tactics. AV was the same....neither has a clue had to make adjustments to a game. Where it becomes obvious is in the POs. Its why we'd win the first 2 games then get 4 straight on us.... any doubters can just Look at the pattern of playoff series wins for evidence of it.
talent wise our team would win for 2 games then the coach of other team works his magic and canucks gets spanked

NHL draft profiles.
Myers: http://www.nhl.com/ice/dr...detail.htm?dpid=4&tab=scr
Schenn: http://www.nhl.com/ice/dr...detail.htm?dpid=5&tab=scr
Does this not sound like Virtanen's draft commentary?
" The one thing with --- is that his size is something that you can’t teach. He’s very big and for a guy his size, he skates very well. He’s very fluid on the ice. For a younger guy, he’s got a lot of composure with the puck. I think that’s one of the reasons why a lot of NHL scouts are fairly high on him right now"
Which of the above is it? |

I didn't think AV was terrible. He was better than Crawford who couldn't coach a wet paper bag since Quenville left his side.
AV at least would fall back on things that should make sense like "Sedins play lots." where Willie is "wow we're losing. derek dorsett should play as much as the Sedins and more than Vrbata and all the other players that score goals" |

Virtanen isn't (frank)ing big.
And the NHL.com draft profiles are written by a bunch of dummies that gather on a FreeBoards page.
Bob McKenzie, THN, Corey Pronman, Ray Ferraro, the rest of TSN's draft coverage team. All had the same point about the two players. "Schenn can play physically in the NHL right away, which is what makes him so valuable." "Myers is a bit away but *Pierre McGuire cuts in* HE'LL BE ZDENO CHARA! WHAT A MONSTER" |

So you don't like the Vitanen pick, Sbisa, Dorsett, Bartowski, the coaching, JB, the overall status of life in gereneral with the canucks. And obviously, as long as you're this set in your thought process, there is not much others can say that will change your mind.
Enjoy |

I was bothered constantly by AV's D pairs.
I don't know how many times he had to try Bieksa-Edler to learn it just plain didn't work. And that Bieksa was great at 20 minutes a game but couldn't handle 24.
Also Aaron Rome with the Sedins. Astonishing they ever got the puck clean on a breakout. |

No I don't like seeing my favourite team run by a guy who can't make more positive moves than negative ones and has a complete lack of direction for the franchise.
I guess that is wrong with me and I should blindly accept all moves as positive and think that the state of the franchise is good and not bad. |

Once again, short of facts.
I don't think I'm going to continue my discussion with you.
On a side note, i just read the Province article that you completely butchered last page: http://www.theprovince.co...+with/11627537/story.html
Yes, god forbid the GM protects a 19 year old with promise after probably one of the hardest game's of his life.
On a side note " The Canucks have set a deadline of Jan. 10 to reach a decision, which is, interestingly, the trade deadline in the WHL". Cool to see that Benning might be looking to pull a Draisatl type move. |

Bartkowski is a classic case of a guy who looks good to the average fan, but he's constantly out of position and does a horrible job at boxing out and tying up his man in front of the net. He skates fast, can move the puck out of he zone, sticks up for his teammates and works hard but he should be a 6/7 dman on a good team because he needs to be sheltered with easy minutes or gets exposed
Sutter I'll admit looks to be an upgrade on Bonino. But the Miller/Sbisa deals still are atrocious, Dorsett as well is overpaid.
Agree with you on WD, I like that the team plays hard for him but he's in over his head with line matching, lineup decisions, ice time management. Hartley schooled him in the playoffs. - Nucker101
Sooo... You reckon there are many NHL coaches that would be doing much more with this roster? |

I haven't seen even average NHL ability from JV in passing/stickhandling. He's a north-south up and down the wing shooter, very similar style to David Booth, Chris Kreider, etc. Pre-concussion David Booth and current Chris Kreider is his ceiling if you want to be realistic. Until he produces in the NHL, it's a stretch to call him a "safe" prospect. Since it takes more than just being physically gifted to be a quality NHL'er. - Nucker101
You wait half a year to come by on a day when JV has his lowest point to sh1t on him even though he is 19 years old. You have been waiting all year to say I told you so about something.
You poop all over Benning and Sutter and Sbisa so now you have your glory on game 39 . Well done PHucker well done , you the man |

I dont know about many...but they are out there. Some are already employed unfortunately.
The 1 that could be a slam dunk is Carlyle. He had friggin LEAFS competitive lol. So yes. I believe he's been on the GM blacklist....due to an argument with the GM. Happened to ted nolan before and he didnt get a job for 14 years. Otherwise its puzzling such a great coach with an excellent record and a cup win in limited NHL years isnt employed.
However to be sure ... I say replace Lisdter with him. Randy knows defensive systems extremely well and used those to win the cup in his 2nd NHL year. I would give him a window to share strategy tactics with WD as well. It protects us from being overly harsh on players but we still benefit from his knowledge and upgrade our D coach. Carlyle will know that if he's well liked by the players he is a shoe in for head coach if WD gets the axe.
Another benefit is you'll have 3 coaches on the bench with NHL coaching experience.
act before anaheim gets him, whom is in our division |

Nothing much. Some Leafs fans dropped by to compliment us on our stellar draft choices, and a Flyers fan seemed weirdly informed about recent Canucks history.
Oh, and apparently we rioted a few years ago, I'm not sure if you know. I'd almost forgotten, but a couple of visitors were kind enough to remind us. |
