Man... 11 pages and it's mostly trolling from Leaf fans, ex-fans and Benning-haters. This city really has an inferiority complex when it comes to the Canucks. The myopia and bi-polarism in a huge portion of the fanbase is staggering to me. How else can you look at a 19 year-old prospect who had the worst game he's had, in a tournament not exactly suited for his style of game, when he's clearly having confidence issues and then rip him and call him a bust, unbelievable.
Is he going to be the best player in that draft? Of course not, and he's going to have a lot of ups and downs to deal with, he's a (frank)ing power forward for Christ's sake. Those types of players take longer to develop than an Ehlers, Ritchie or Nylander type. Bo's having an off year too, are we calling him a bust? Could it be that because we lack talent on the team due to salary cap constraints that we're just not ABLE to provide the best opportunity for JM, JV and Horvat?
Some of us need to get our heads out of our calculators, take off our armchair Head Coach and GM hats, put down the controller for the XBONE or PS4 and realize that we are a team in transition. The league also is in a state of transition, we have to learn to accept that not every decision that WD or JB makes is going to work out. Chances are in 2-3 years they won't even be here anymore. But let's not kid ourselves and say that they're worse then what came before, teams hire GMs and HCs to be fired and the shelf lives are short. |

Thanks for being a great mod. He actually has a good post other than the rant against Hockey Buzz... I refuse to go to HF now because it's full of 1000's of super charged Nuckers |

Personally I see Debbie Downer, nothing but negativity no matter what the topic regarding the canucks, I felt he was enraged he wasn't consulted during JB's decision making.
He has his opinions, and he has every right to voice them. Nuff said |

I dont know about many...but they are out there. Some are already employed unfortunately.
The 1 that could be a slam dunk is Carlyle. He had friggin LEAFS competitive lol. So yes. I believe he's been on the GM blacklist....due to an argument with the GM. Happened to ted nolan before and he didnt get a job for 14 years. Otherwise its puzzling such a great coach with an excellent record and a cup win in limited NHL years isnt employed.
However to be sure ... I say replace Lisdter with him. Randy knows defensive systems extremely well and used those to win the cup in his 2nd NHL year. I would give him a window to share strategy tactics with WD as well. It protects us from being overly harsh on players but we still benefit from his knowledge and upgrade our D coach. Carlyle will know that if he's well liked by the players he is a shoe in for head coach if WD gets the axe.
Another benefit is you'll have 3 coaches on the bench with NHL coaching experience.
act before anaheim gets him, whom is in our division - SMBDragon
Tbh I wouldn't wish Randy upon anybody, apart from the Sens or Bruins. Sure he has a cup win thanks to guys like Pronger, Niedermeyer and Giguere, but his time in Toronto really exposed how tactically naive he is. |

Leafs look like a much improved team this year. Effort level is definitely a lot higher this year compared to past years. Would you say that's all a result of the coaching change? Or do you think getting rid of kessel helped as well. The guy clearly didn't care for playing a complete game and his relationship with randy was just toxic. Seems like when he stopped caring the rest of the team stopped caring?

Doubt the Kings let him walk after shelling out the 13th, Jones and Miller. Also, he doesn't seem much like one of Benning's "character" guys.
Though i hate the player personally, if he took a shorter term deal which basically just replaces Vrbata's out-going salary i don't think it would be that bad.
The protection and space he would create for the rookies would be ideal while, if this fanbase want's Virtanen to mold himself after a Lucic type game, i suppose there ain't anyone better to learn from....

I think that it's mainly down to the coaching change, and having a coach who has a mindset of working with individuals as well as the collective. I really would have liked to see what Kessel could do under Babcock, especially seeing how much JvR has bought in and improved this year (and Kessel playing a similar game to JvR the past few years). My take is that it wasn't just Kessel who had a bad relationship with Randy, and when you see your boss take a lazy route, then others may be inclined to do the same. I say this of course fully aware that Kessel hasn't really lit it up this year, but I'll be intrigued to see what he can do with the coaching change. |

You wait half a year to come by on a day when JV has his lowest point to sh1t on him even though he is 19 years old. You have been waiting all year to say I told you so about something.
You poop all over Benning and Sutter and Sbisa so now you have your glory on game 39 . Well done PHucker well done , you the man - VANTEL
Shows his character. We knew the 'I told you so's' were coming...kinda figured it'd be in the new year. |

Good point.
I think moving Kessel represented somewhat of an addition through subtraction dynamic. You could tell he was done with Toronto, management and the fanbase altogether
That said, the return you guys got was pretty horrid. Shows the difficulty of moving high priced players in the cap-era. |

this deal only takes place if Hammer is willing to resign with edm, and would take place after mcdavid/yak are back?

Especially given the fact that he had a large contract and NTC. That said, Kapanen has the tools to be an effective top 6 winger, and Harrington has second line upside, so I can't say that it was terrible... I'd have just liked it if there was a true blue-chipper in there. There's still another pick to come our way though, and the Leafs shake up of the scouting ranks and new direction of drafting may also produce someone useful. |

I think that if EDM were to move Nuge, it would not be for a 33 and 34 year old plus a second. They're not close enough to "win now" mode to consider that kind of transaction, even if it was balanced to begin with. |

What's the general consensus on JB from the Nuck fans? Seems like folks outside of Van have been pretty brutal, is that echoed from within? What would be his best/worst moves to date? |
