Never said it was good, I'm pointing out exactly what could possibly happen which would also be what JB and TL said at the beginning.
Does it always have to be doom and gloom with this team, management, coaching and ownership? - Makita
You may think my thoughts are doom and gloom but I seriously like what is happening. I know I am vocal about the high draft pick which most will call tank nation , but I am.
I like our draft picks for the last three years. I like Markstrom Sutter Hutton Biega Bo.
I just want to get rid of the old vets a lot faster than waiting for their contracts to expire.
Not a big fan of Edler Tanev but I can live with them.
All in all I like this team a lot |

And is HAS to be that way why?
WASH, BOS, DET, NYR, DAL, STL.
All have re-tooled/remained competitive while drafting and developing outside primarily the top 5. - Delta-Bravo
Only Boston has won a Stanley Cup of that group though, it again comes down to what you want for a team. A true Cup contender or just a competitive team.
There's a lot of ways to go about winning, but it all starts with drafting. To date, I love Benning's picks, I don't however like any of this player for player trades.
Every team in the cap world that's won a Cup has done so with top picks. And yes Boston had Seguin on their team for the Cup win, semantics I know because he didn't play an extremely important role in the finals but he did in the Tampa series. |

We also got our 3rd back. At the time it was expected that Anh 2nd would be 50-60 and our 3rd would be 60-70. Not a HUGE loss there. Anaheim sucking so bad came out of nowhere.
At the time it was seen as Bonino and Clendening(Forsling) for Sutter. That is a good deal IMHO. The picks were of little consequence at the time. Only now it looks like a big deal due to Anh's issues. - Retinalz
I just hate how he's adding these picks all the time, Bonino and Clendening for Sutter was enough, why risk it?
Or keep Clendening and do the picks, not both. |

I don't think they needed to add Clendening to the trade for Sutter, it was a complete overpayment by Benning because he wanted something. - LeftCoaster
Possibly, however he may have gotten the corado treatment and been picked up on waivers, we'll never know but is it possible Pittsburg wanted a third as well as a second and jb gave them a d prospect who may not have made the team instead? |

I'm in agreement with a lot of what's posted by most, regarding the canucks, and I should have made that doom and gloom comment in general not just you.
Is there a site that talks about what happens during transactions...example, Benning didn't need to give a additional pick to get Sutter. How does anyone other than the 2 principal people involved know what did and didn't need to be done. Has Benning come out and said, yeah i didn't need to up the anti, but thought I'd over pay to get what I wanted?

No they're not, but that's not what I'm going on about today. If I were in control I'd start to build with some massive player personnel changes. Is that tanking, not to me, it's resetting the clock…but yes they would suck for a few years. - LeftCoaster
Buffalo reset the clock hard last year. |
