Not if they continue to play like this. This intermission coming up will hopefully do alot to calm them.

Doesnt hurt to have a guy like chelios on the bench right now.

If you get Matthews you take him no matter what it's the Nathan MacKinnon scenario you have to take him I'm sorry
- gerbe75pts

I don't and I wouldn't. Then you're likely trading Sam and trying to find a winger. I'd rather get more bang for my buck and trade Matthews for 2,3,4 to a western team and get another prospect as well. If no team was willing to give that then sure you take Matthews and you move forward from there but if that offer is available I take it.

The US never chokes in big games. They best come out of the break flying. The longer Russia holds that lead the more worried I'd be. Let's see if Matthews can be clutch under the big lights.

If i owned the 1st overall pick the only way i wouldnt take matthews is if youre offered another 1st rd pick, or a top NHL ready prospect. Im not sure you get that, maybe you do but you also have to really like one of the other players enough to take the risk AND be in the position to make sure you can draft him wherever you drop back to.

If the sabres draft matthews, reinhart is probably a winger for his duration as a sabre, and you are trading girgensons. Or vice versa

They choked against Canada last year.

They've choked against Russia the last two years in the Quarterfinals. They had leads in both those games, too.

Don't get me started on the Olympics.

It depends on the situation, honestly. If I get that pick and someone wants to trade me let's say their 2016 1st, and another 2016 1st, say 3 and 15, then I do it. If they offer me the 2nd, a 2nd rounder, and a mid level prospect then I do it. I understand the "Generational" aspect and I get that Matthews is likely BPA. I like to draft for position and I don't really like taking centers and making them wingers or vice versa. I want that natural wing who can flank Eichel, keep up with him, and score goals.

That said, we win this lotto and get Matthews I don't think anyone here would be too upset.

Look up WAR rankings. (Wins above replacement)

It's a Stat that basically measures how many wins a players contributions can account for.

A healthy Steven Stamkos just added to a lineup can account for only 2-3 wins on his own.

How much better exactly do you think Risto is going to get? Or Eichel? He's already pretty damn good.

Also, we will always have injuries. Considering our best players (Eichel, O'Reilly, Risto) haven't missed a game, I'd say we have been pretty lucky

- sbroads24

WAR is a great baseball statistic, good/average for football and basketball, and just bad for hockey. It doesn't take into account that adding a stamkos, for example, bumps ROR and Eichel down a line to play against inferior competition. He himself may only add 2-3 wins by taking over a game, but it doesn't account for any games that ROR or Eichel would take over, in the example given. That is why that stat doesn't hold much water in hockey, where you have to change players in minute intervals. Doesn't work real well.

When they asked some Russian player what they thought about Matthews he replied with "I've heard of him a few times". If the US can't win this game and can't win it easily I don't see them beating the Finns at all

For sports, it's really not great. Sportsdevil is okay but so many dead links and games that aren't listed. It's a good second option but I'd never invite people over to watch the game using it because it could very easily not work or be very low quality

Kodi allows you to install plugins to all of the various sites that have been tossed around. Sure, you could go to them in the browser and try the links that way - whether or not that is better is subjective.

I get how it works, I'm saying the set up and the ease of use generally isn't worth it, imo. I'd rather just google "USA Russia World Juniors Stream" and find it that way than going through the hassle of Kodi. Again, it's different strokes for different folks, but I was all aboard the Kodi band wagon and now I'm off because of how meh it is.

Looks like both games end up the same way.

One team scores in the 3rd period.

Next team scores 2 in the second, and holds on to win.

3 years in a row, Russia looks to bounce the Americans.
