I like this alot. Gionta and moulson where they should be and i liked Mcginn with Jack early in the season. Should be VERY fun to see that top 6 and hopefully the lines stay this way so they can all start gaining chemistry.
Absolutely. He is a real nice player but not THAT nice. - Slump Buster
McGinn and O'Reilly have been doing well together, but I don't think I'd give McGinn 4. His shooting percentage had been higher than it was in his career. It's gone down now to a more modest 12% but it was as high as 15% when he was getting his goals. His assists to O'Reilly can also be attributed to O'Reilly having his shooting percentage up there as well. Currently at 15.5% and a week or two ago he was closer to 18%. His career average is 10.7%. O'Reilly has the intangibles that make him worth more. Not saying McGinn doesn't have intangibles, but for 4M, I personally wouldn't pull the trigger.

Hopefully these are the lines for the game. I like Bylsma, but I will say I'm in the school of thought that players should play together for a long time and build that chemistry. Changing it up can be good, but I don't agree with the constant rotation.
Anyone have any news on Lehner? He's been doing conditioning and taking shots in practice. I know he's going to do at least one game in the AHL before coming back.

I'll be curious of what happens defensively now that Girgensons is in the top 6 instead of on that 3rd line that normally faces the other teams top line.
I just really hope that we can add a nice scoring touch ot that 2nd line as Girgensons is better as a top flight 3C and McGinn as a 3RW/LW IMO. One of them should not be there long term for sure.
What a fall from grace for Foligno... I had such SUCH high hope for him when him and Ennis broke into this league late that rookie year. Now regulated as a 4th liner. Jeesh

Wouldn't be mad about it if it happened, however. - Zschalberg
I think the Clown was right... offer a deal to him for 2 years.. if not.. don't over pay. he is a 3rd liner in his best that can fill in on the 2nd line when needed. I like him... but wouldn't over pay.
some 2016 UFA's include....
Grabner, Vrbata, Backes, Doan, Eriksson, Ladd, Okposo, Perron, and Boedker.
Like a lot of those names better for a top 6 wing filler.

I like backes, eriksson, ladd, okposo and boedker - homiedclown
Those were my choices as well. Backes is a true C though.... I'm not sure how much winger he has played in his time.
I like Ladd the most in the group. Good physical 2 way winger who can pot 25 a season. Then Okposo and then Eriksson solely with age and concussion history. Boedker is a wild card. Blazing on his skates but disappears and is not a two way player.
Karabacek was taken one pick before Christian Dvorak.
Cornel, admittedly has caught my attention but he is amongst the oldest in the OHL. - Sabresfan-365
Took the words out of my mouth he shouldve had these numbers last year imo.
Dvorak was a tough call for most teams tho had to go 100% off potential because he only had 9 games in the USHL and 33 in the OHL without great numbers. That said im pissed we didnt get him but he wouldve prolly had people shaking their heads at the time

Borgen with another assist....
Also, future Sabre ( ) Matthew Tkachuk is killing it - CoHo_to_B-Lo
Wishful thinking.... I don't think we will be top 3 or 4 in order to get him.
I'd put us at about 7-11 range honestly. I dream for Chychrun as I think we need another young stud D-men to add more than another forward. But that changes on the day. I haven't researched this draft class a ton to see if we have any "elites" in front of us like a Mackinnion, Barkov, or Reinhart type ceilings. I know that Matthews is the only elite of elite type but not quite McDavid/Eichel franchise pinnacle guy.

Looking at cost compared to probable performance, the two in bold are the only two that are interesting.

Im certain they've got a win streak or 2 left in them but I still can't see them picking that low (though the standings are still very close in the bottom 10). If they do wind up there I hope they move the pick for an nhl player instead.
I hope and pray that we come out of left field and get Drouin but I just don't see what we have that they would want... or really know what they are looking for. We have a bunch of extra 2nd and 3rd rounders but that doesn't cut it for Drouin.... we have guys like Moulson/Foligno that we'd love to trade and get something for but that won't cut it.
i could see TB wanting a young stud like Bailey or Baptiste but.. who knows... I would assume that McCabe, Psysk, Ruhwedel, or Guhle might be in there too?
JC!! About freakin' time!
This should have been realized about 29 games ago.
As a long-time, very interested fan of the Sabres and Bills; what has annoyed me over the years is waiting for the new Coaches to figure somethings out...those that we have seen in the past work rather well, but it doesn't dawn on the new Coach for an extended period of time.
Moulson-Larsson-Gionta should have been re-united at the first glimpse of when Gionta and Moulson were struggling...based on some level of success realized last year.
And the same for Eichel with Girgenson and McGinn ... we didn't see it before, but it made too much sense having watched Kane work well with ROR and Skunk...but fail miserably with Eichel.
Hooray for the Coach! no keep it together for longer than the 1st period!
