Russell Wilson is the 1st player in NFL history to record 4,000 Pass yds, 30 Pass TD & 500 Rush yds in a season.

Yes but it doesn't have to be the Sedins.
- LeftCoaster

Agreed, but if they are gone, who does that leave? Obviously you can always bring some in, but ideally they have some history with and loyalty to the team. The Sedins aren't just our best players, they've got orcas tattooed on their hearts.

I'm not so sure that will be so easy unless we vastly overpay.

It's really simple....I see shink as an upgrade to the Canucks ...that is the team that matters isn't it? I think second line minutes in the nhl would be far better for his development. And one hell of a lot more entertaining to watch compared to Higgins Prust Dorsett etc getting those minutes and boreing me to the point I don't even want to turn the game on or buy a ticket an go see them play.
- Bullfrog77

Butt will our would he actually bump sedins, Sutter, horvat, McCann, vrabata not to mention Hansen, burrows or virtanen?
Because that is our top 6, I don't see him add being a better option then 7 of those players let alone jumping six of them.

It could be much ado about nothing, but it's good to discuss

I don't disagree. I wouldn't move them unless you're getting a kings ransom, and I doubt you would be able to.

Exactly. Without some kind of quality on this team who the hell is going to want to come as a free agent unless they are overpaid?

That goes to the original point of discussion....moving unproductive vets off the roster. And yes I see him still a better option, he has more goals scored then almost all of them...

Just food for thought but Buffalo traded for a good young winger in Evander Kane, off-ice issue apart, they traded for a decent goaltender in Lehner and they traded for a good center in ROR...all with first round picks they acquired thru sending off older players with expiring contracts and and kids they'd already drafted like Tyler Myers and Grigo.

That in itself will speed up the process tremendously.

We are not in the free agent signing market....were in the draft , develop and promote from within market ....for the next 3 years or so !

Maybe. Aside from ROR those players haven't proven much.

If we trade off all of our quality vets we'll need to sign some FA's to insulate the youth, unless you want Adam Cracknell mentoring them.

Realistically you know as well as I do, they not trading ALL the veterans, maybe two at best, if any at all.

Rather him then Higgins....you all seen how vets are getting treated....waived , not offered contracts...how many have just faded away the last couple years? I really don't think it would be hard to find some vets to fill the Sedins shoes mentors hip wise. And likely at 5-6 million a season cheaper.

I'm not sure what their never having won a cup has to do anything. They have never gotten into trouble off the ice, they train their asses off, give back to their community, etc. Is the value of that diminished because they don't have a cup?

Of course the franchise comes first, but I'm not in any hurry to watch the franchise I cheer for race for last.

Just meaning that if they wanted a shot at a Cup is all.
