Ya me too. You know the kid cares a lot. Kid threw a lot of solid hits during the tourney, and was a solid net front presence. Hopefully he doesn't take too much of the criticism too hard - Mungo
I think JV will come back here and the team tells him , no one gives a Phuck about that stupid tournament , get your head back in the NHL and let's go. |

With a number of veteran players gone the younger guys will get minutes. Travis Green said those two kids have come a long ways and they've earned an opportunity. I feel the same way. - LeftCoaster
I can't imagine icing a lineup that includes Sven, Vey and Shink.
2 max, but we can't have 3 imo.
As for Gaunce, he is in the same boat as Prust, Dorsett and Kennins. Can't have all them plus G. |

That's a lot of youth!
I think that's a recipe to suck, but then i remember that sucking is the goal for some fans here.

One really doesn't know how Gaunce Grenier Shink or Canucks will do without actually giving them a chance.
We do know what the old guys bring and it is not pretty.
That said, this roster gives us a good shot at a high draft pick. Keep doing what we are doing |

February 29th is the trade deadline, not January 4th. One month or really five weeks left in the season, will it matter? |

A good way to get a top 5 pick no doubt, while also simultaneously stalling the development of at-least half those names.
I just feel as though there needs to be a balance. |

By the end of today we will be in either 21 or 22 spot why would you be afraid of change and trying something different .
I am not saying to go ahead and try t , but rather I am saying could it get much worse |

I agree.
Just like we were all female doging about the old boys club last year, we had too many vets and that was addressed.
Now we have an infusion of youth which has gone better than i would have thought.
But we can't ice an entire team of youth plus the Sedins.
I also don't think we can ice too many of the same type of players (Shink, Vey and Sven) or too many 4th line heavies.
Balance is required, even in a rebuild in order to encourage chemistry, confidence and develop properly. |

Exactly....were a bottom five team with the roster as it sits right now anyway...why not Atleast enjoy the kids fighting for there job over the overpaid under performing vets? |

So tired of look at the Oilers .
How about the Coyotes who are surrounded by tons of vets
Oilers are a franchise that have taken more than enough time , but for every failure franchise there have been 5 franchises that took a chance on youth.

Exactly, why jeopardize the performance of the kids in the A when the team is going to suck anyways?
Unlike the Canucks, they are playing a prominent roll on a competitive team with a decent shot of making some noise in the playoffs.
Furthermore, at this stage in their careers, I think Travis Green is a better mentor for them over W.D. |

That's a crock, how would they stall development, because they're not in the AHL anymore? Because they'd probably lose? Their roles at the NHL level would be similar to their roles in the AHL.
Do you think Aleskander Barkov's development stalled last year because Florida lost a lot? Do you think Nick Bjugstad's development stalled because he was in a losing environment? Do you think Landeskog or MacKinnon's development stalled because they were in a losing environment?
No...they've gotten better outside of the sophomore slump and grown as players. Get a good pick and then surround the kids with some vets again next year. |

Moving he vets at TDL and playing Shink Gaunce and Grenier for the remaining five weeks would give you an idea of where they stand and how the team would fair. Then in the Summer go out shopping to fill the gaps |

In saying that, I would like to see Shink get a shot in the bigs this year too. Just not in addtion to Vey and Sven.
Easy solution is to package Vey with one of the dammed at the TDL (Vrbata, Burrows, Hammer). |

Plus the system needs as many picks as it can get from moving veterans. |

I think Vey and Shink should battle next year for a spot. I think most here would be very surprised to see who wins.
I don't think there would be any harm in trying things. It doesn't mean it has to be that way at the beginning of next year. We might find out how much more training they need or we could find out they are ready.
I still want to see what Vey has to offer. He is still another very young player. I think this time around he is showing more. Let's not give up too early |

Shinkaruk is a winger, Vey is a center, ain't happening. |
