They are a total mess. I'm not a Sixers fan, nor am I really an NBA fan, but jfc couldn't they have at least retired Moses Malone's number before he passed away? Give the guy a night. He was such a great player. - PLindbergh31
Next time they'll be sure to give the retired guy a physical before scheduling to retire his jersey. |

Getzlaf has been a bandaid for along time and still managed to get into Hart Trophy talks with Giroux 2 or 3 years ago and he's a number of years older. - SuperSchennBros
That's because Getzlaf is a better player than Giroux. |

Agreed. He needs better players around him. His even strength scoring was down when he played with Voracek too though. - PhillySportsGuy
He's also dependent on guys finishing off plays to get points, being primarily a playmaker. Even last year, Voracek isn't really a finisher and Raffl's shooting % was high.
Now he's with Raffl who has been up and down, and Schenn, who has been...well, Brayden Schenn. The same hot and cold guy he's been for years. |

Hey, lay off of random unknown white dude, he's got bad knees. Give him a break! - jmatchett383
His name is Jeff Ruland, and he had well known knee issues when the trade went down. |

I'm off. Today has been educational.
G is too old to carry a team.
Drouin is worth an established roster player and prized defensive prospect.
Schenn 40 plus points a season sucks, on an already weak offensive team, with awful depth. I'm still wondering what his expectation is suppose to be but let's head back to the Saad/Schenn comparison. |

I'm not arguing anything. I'm saying Giroux isn't what he was 2-3 years ago. He's not going to score 80-90 points with just any linemates. His ES scoring hasn't been elite for a while now. I still think he's really good, but he needs more help than Schenn and Raffl. - PhillySportsGuy
12-13 was when his ES scoring went down. Also the season the Flyers defense lost Pronger and Carle, and Meszaros got ruined by injuries. |

I 100% agree with you. It's not all Schenn, it's how he's used. It's the strategy of the team. The new argument is he prefers right at even strength. We just put him there this year. So what was the expectation the moment we finally gave him a home in his 5th season? - SuperSchennBros
I just don't like how they basically cut the ice in half for themselves in that setup. There were times where Schenn could one-touch a pass over to a guy on the weak side for a one-time chance, but not often enough to really activate the entire zone.
With Ghost being such a presence up top, bringing Schenn down lower makes sense to stretch the PK out even more. |

Did Julius Erving, Iverson, Barkley have their jerseys retired before they were 60? |

That happened back in (I think) 12-13, or was it 13-14? I think he went like 16 games or so without a goal. That said, if I had to take a player's overall career, I'd take Getzlaf, and I love Giroux. |

I (personally) think that B. Schenn is approaching a known quantity, which is a middle 6 winger (who will want a raise next year). I think that Drouin has question marks, but is an unknown quantity (who still has another year on his ELC). Sure Drouin could bust or become a cancer, but I'd take a shot on him. Just my feelings. - jmatchett383
I have no issue with that. It then becomes at what cost? The problem is many don't want to consider that Drouin could wind up as just a guy also. Reality is that there isn't a poster here who truly knows. Fun to discuss certainly, but some are wanting to trade the farm and offer up top defense prospects who use to be the future and saviors of the team because a shiny new toy came along. |

Yeah, it's obvious why he was signed. It can't hurt, and Brand is widely known as a good locker room and team first guy |

Put Schenn on the 4th line with no PP minutes and see what happens to his point totals. - PhillySportsGuy
You might want to take a look at Drouin's ice time averages.

Because there weren't any.
Drouin might end up being just an average player. Absolutely. The same could happen to any of the Flyers prospects, too
The most established NHLer anyone mentioned was Simmonds, who while good has his limitations. Schenn is the same player he was 3 years ago when he was a rookie-struggles with consistency, hasn't really found his groove or produced a ton given his useage.
And most have been adamant that they wouldn't trade both Simmonds and one of the top D prospects(Morin, Sanheim & Provorov). Hell, I suggested going no higher than Schenn, Hagg (who is a B prospect) and a 2nd rounder. Not sure how that gets turned into "dynamiting the Wells Fargo Center" |

Absolutely they could. Drouin could wind up a star. Reality is that neither you, nor I, or any other poster knows what the kid will eventually be. |

Don't worry. His pt/60 will be fine. Thats what happens with that stat. 12 minutes on the 4th line results in a higher pt/60 than 18 minutes on the top line. - PhillySportsGuy
Cooper is a fool! Just play Drouin 18 minutes on the top line and he'll put up 80 points like Voracek did. All based on his pt/60 stat. I'm not sure why coaches and GM's just don't forget about watching the game, and just use stats! |
