I don't blame him. - johndewar
There was conversation on the radio when they announced the 3 on 3 format and Jeff O'Neil said they made them play 3 on 3 in practice as a punishment for a game when the coach thought they didn't skate hard enough.

Here's my take on Tampa bay and drouin. The stamkos issue needs to be resolved shortly and first. He's not staying. If he wanted to he would have signed a deal or runors would be flying it's close. Unfortunately Tampa is in a bad spot. His value will be highest now till trade deadline. I get a feeling everyone involved knows where he wants to go so that team sure won't trade assets in off season. I think Tampa is screwed here. Drouin needs to get them a haul in assets to make it worth it to them now and in the future. Can u imagine trading stamkos and drouin the same season and screwing it up !!! |

Jagr on being voted into the All Star Game - mayorofangrytown
"One reporter challenged Jagr, reminding the first-ballot Hall of Famer that Nashville is a nice city.
“That's great,” Jagr responded. “I'd rather be in Florida, trust me. Or the Bahamas.”

Alright, I have to ask. Do you guys really believe Ghost is a bigger threat on the PP than Streit?
I say Streit. He's steady, experienced. You want to move the puck, not your feet unless you absolutely have to. If the Flyers hold the offensive zone from the top of the umbrella, it means they're in control.
Mark Streit was our best player prior to his injury. |

I'll just say that the 5 on 4 powerplay has not been any better since Ghost took over.
At 4 on 3 his skating is helpful, but that's usually only applicable in OT. |

Maybe they want Streit back. |

You'd think Streit would take it over again for Hexy to showcase him for the TDL |

Well considering the Flyers PP is ranked 27th in the NHL it's hard to say that Ghost has made a significant impact on the power play. The eye test says his ability to move the puck, as well as shoot the puck is pretty impressive. |

Unfortunately Streit is 38 years of age, coming off an injury. He's also under contract next year at 5.3 million. His value will probably be the highest at next years trade deadline. Playoff rental for a contender looking for some offense on the backend. |

I'm hoping provy gets a gold medal out of the wjc. Good confidence builder for next year when he starts full time on the flyers d.

I would put Streit back on the top unit but I would also trade him at this deadline for as much as I could get. Offensive defenseman are valuable players. |

He hasn't but it wasn't exactly a house afire when Streit was healthy. No issue in putting Streit back on the 1st unit, but it's no guarantee that it fixes things.

I'd be okay with keeping him for another year. Let him mentor Ghost and whatever other young kids make the team next year. However, if you can get a 1st for him this year, I guess it depends on where Hexy thinks that pick will be and what the draft is looking like, a contender's pick will obviously be later in the first round. I have no idea personally except for this Matthews kid I keep hearing about and I don't think we're lucky enough to win the lottery. If the draft isn't deep enough for us to really take advantage of that pick, I say keep him and try and get something better next year. |

Agreed. There are a lot more elements to the PP then who is the QB on the backend. |

Thanks Bill. I think that when Pronger joined the Flyers, he brought some important characteristics along with him. He brought leadership skills, experience, and the ability to motivate players around him. However, that does not mean that he was perfect; he lacked speed, and sometimes mobility. Most importantly, not once did you ever see him quit on a play. Ever since he went down to injury, we have not had a player on this team quite like him. He had the drive, and a desire to win. In looking at Morin, I don't know if we will get that type of player out of him, however to expect that from him, might be too much. Pronger had the skills that you just can't teach. He was smart, tough, and a leader. With the spoiled players of today, I just don't see another Pronger in the team's/league's near future.
Drouin maybe facing a similar situation that Stamkos did when he entered into the league. I remember his struggles to stick with the Bolts, and to not be sent back down. Did the Bolts, or Drouin learn from this? If Stamkos is indeed on his way out, then I wouldn't be surprised to see Drouin leave as well. Does Drouin fill a need for the Flyers? I look at Danny B, and how he was a question mark with his size, and strength. Maybe Drouin just needs a fresh start, and someone to mentor him at the NHL level. Thus, he might be worth the risk at the right price. Or, would you rather just stay the course with the current group?
Food for thought. |

I'd keep him til next year simply because the return will most likely be better. |

The cap commitment for next year may well scare other teams off. But I still think you might snag a good pick for him this season's deadline. I doubt it's markedly better next year. |

Some good news for Flyer Prospects.
Aube-Kubel was voted second star of the month for December for the Quebec MJHL...which is pretty good....Phillipe Myers was the recipient of the 3rd star of the month....for December.
Not bad... |

All depends on what team wants him and what the draft is looking like. Is the #20 pick projected to be better this year or next? Or can we get the 1st this year and package it for a higher pick? Can we get a top prospect instead?
Being a GM would make my head spin. Every move you make you have to be thinking 5 moves ahead and factor in every "if" scenario plus balance a cap budget for the next 10 years. Plus handle the minor leagues team and keep an eye on all the prospects. I'll take playing GM on HB with you guys.... |
