There is definitely some homerism going on saying Crawford is a top 2 finalist.
Luongo is probably sitting second right now with how he is willing Florida to the playoffs
Luongo .929 sv pct, 2.07 GAA, 3 shutouts
Crawford .925 sv pct, 2.24 GAA, 6 shutouts
and dont sit there and tell me Chicago has a worse defense than Florida, because they dont - FourFeathers773
Not the biggest CC fan on the board, but I'll take him over Bobby Lu in a heartbeat.
Any NHL team committing to a defensive trapping game can make their defense look good - problem is you won't score any goals and most the the play will be between the blue lines like the Ottawa game.
And lets not forget how Bobby Lu is infamous for pooping the bed in the playoffs...

Is there a goalie in hockey right to take over Crow in big games? After last year's final 2 rounds I can't find any. Certainly not Rask, Gus or Luongo. Price maybe but he usually gets hurt before the biggest games.
Quick is probably the only peer (measuring success under pressure) at the moment. |

The pierogies and kapusta in Toronto are horrible. Mrs. Hossa is here to fix the problem and Panik will turn into Max Paccioretty by the end of January. - RickJ Get him a place in Berwyn and a bottomless bowl of liver dumpling soup.

This has been my point...he been the most consistent big game goalie over the last 3 years....PERIOD!!! Yet he still gets dumped on after a rare poor game or so called soft goal..he has carried this team to a number of big wins the last 3 plus seasons and his facing more high quality chances more shots as the hawks team D is not what it was 2-3 years ago.
I think he was the top even strength goalie last year. Superb in shoot outs. And his playoff OT record over the last 3 years is outstanding including those of the double and triple variety.
I stated at the beginning of the year if the hawks were going to get a playoff spot and a deep run..craw would have to do headstands and he has done that. Can he keep this up...i sure hope so..on pace for 11-12 shutouts but probably not. |

Worst hockey for team USA in this tournament. They are playing like Russians are familiar; punch of individuals and no team game. Tkachuk had like over 2 minute shift in the second period..maybe they thought it was going to be easy walk to finals? |

Mark Visentin in Rockford was considered a can't miss goalie prospect just two seasons ago. The Hawks took a chance on him this summer (after a disastrous 2015 campaign) and he has responded VERY well in Rockford. After a poor first start, he has been very good and very consistent. Visentin possesses all the attributes to become a good NHL goalie. |

All that matters in this new NHL is making the playoffs and then winning the Cup. To that end, there aren't any 2 better NHL goalies than Crawford and Quick. Corey is having a career season for CHI and you know that it will continue over into the playoffs.
And with Kane having a career season and the recent addition of Guftasson, it is looking more and more like the Hawks need to "bite the bullet" and get than top 6 LW, whatever the price. |

Schmaltz is tiny? Yet he is taller and heavier then Drouin. |

Its my fault. Shoul;d have watched the game instead of working.
I watched for like 30 seconds, and it was exactly when we scored. |

First, another very good night by Guftasson, which is very important to the Hawks moving forward.
Second, as for the Drouin talk, OF COURSE you move a Nick Schmaltz for this calibre of player. As JJ said, while Schmaltz is showing signs of getting better, he is yet another talented, undersized College Centre with a history of avoiding contact. We have NO IDEA how good (or bad) he will become...if someone else wants to take that chance, good for them.
Schmaltz alone will not get Drouin for the Hawks, and if that price includes Dano, then it will be a steep price to pay. What Dano accomplished in those 35 NHL games last year wasn't some kind of fluke. He possesses a strong body, bright mind and enormous skill. The Hawks have tried him exclusively on the LW this season, and Q hasn't shown him the slightest amount of patience. Believe me, there is A LOT MORE there than is currently showing, and other GMs know it.
However, Drouin possesses perhaps even more talent than Dano, if not the strength or courage. If the Hawks do acquire him, it will become a HUGE acquisition for this organization moving forward as the kid is definitely going to be a good NHL player, especially playing next to Toews and Hossa. The only question would be, can he help us this season as the 1st line LW? And I don't have an answer to that question as he he was a -6 in 10 playoff games last season for the juggernaut Bolt team. |

Solid strategy - better than drafting goalies every year to develop - Condon, Martin Jones, Darling, Niemi, Raanta.... all free agent finds.... Better to let goalies mature and then grab them than spending picks on them.... I know Crow was drafted and developed by them - not saying teams shouldn't draft goalies. Just saying it shouldn't be a priority. |
