Sign me up right now, if Stan pulled that off, he should be GM of the year.
D for me would be
Keith - Seabs
Gus - Hammer
Gross - TVR
but I aint complaining. Can't imagine this would be possible though - vabeachbear
It wouldn't take that much to acquire Grossman who is on an expiring UFA contract.
Trade Dano or Schmaltz, Pokka and our 1st for Drouin. That sounds like a lot but after the 2016/17 season you can trade the RFA rights to one or two of Panarin, Drouin and Teravainen - so you get the services of those three guys for this season and next and then get prospects/pick back by trading one or two of them. |

And both Kane and TT are listed at 5'11", 177/178 - same size on NHL.com - perhaps, more than size, the ability to USE your size to its best advantage is the key.
Kane does, TT hasn't learned yet, Drouin/Schmaltz? TBD. - StLBravesFan
as you can see from my earlier posts, I tend to be skeptical of what's listed on NHL.com. I just don't really believe that Kane and TT weigh the same . IMO, Kane is noticeably more muscular than TT and if they're the same height he would have to weigh more. |

Something I haven't seen mentioned much with all the Drouin talk is that because he is on his ELC, Stan would not need to cut into his available cap space therefore that cap space can be used to acquire a d-man to push Gustafsson and TvR down to 5/6 and Rozsival to a reserve role.
Panarin, TT and Drouin would all play major roles this season and next before it's time to pay the piper on one or two of them and trade and the other(s) for prospects/picks. So the Hawks would have a 2-year window to win the Cup before the next big Cap purge.
Maybe wait for Arizona to fall out of the chase and pick up a Nicklas Grossman for a rental which the Hawks have the cap space to do.
Then take your chances with a lineup like this:
Drouin-Toews-Hossa
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
Shaw-Danault-Teravainen
Desjardins-Rasmussen(Kruger)-Garbutt
Keith-Hjalmarsson
Grossman-Seabrook
Gustafsson-TvR - EbonyRaptor
Rozy is better then Grossmann. |

Why give up 3 assets for a question mark who has proven nothing at the NHL level except he can't stay in the line-up for various reasons.
FTR. Cam Barker was chosen 4th. |

quite a few of these Drouin articles mention that Cooper is difficult to play for. Anyone know in what way? Is this just speculation because of the Stamkos drama? |

I doubt Schmaltz is traded. The main reason Anthony Louis was drafted by the Hawks was because of having played with Schmaltz. Those two together are something special. - Dabearshawks
Add in the fact the Hawks traded up to get Schmaltz. Him being part of a deal for a rental or a player with huge question marks, I don't see it happening. |

I'm ok with the Hawks giving up certain prospects, as their prospects generally having lit up the NHL. I'm not including guys like Saad and Shaw so much, as they pretty much played immediately, but guys who've marinated on the farm. Rather they sell while they're still green, and the shine hasn't been worn off.
That being said, I'd be surprised if Drouin becomes a Hawk. Happily so, but I doubt it will happen. |

A bit unfair to a (still) 20 year old who - for the first time in his career (I would guess) has had to deal with injury (causing him to miss all but 9 games in the last 9 weeks, according to a TB broadcaster on Sirius XM this morning) - and, perhaps a bit of failure.
And who knows how much of this is because of an agent - experienced in manipulating management - whispering "sweet nothings" into his naive ears?
I don't think we have enough information to really know how uncoachable he might be. - StLBravesFan
life isn't fair. deal with it. Naive? please. these kids know how to manipulate the system as well as anyone. |

The shine on a kid who is still on his ELC asking for a trade is pretty faded to me. Smells of a crappy attitude to me. |

That doesn't help determine the potential value of Drouin to Chicago, should a match be possible.
I don't care about being fair to Drouin; I care about the "uncoachable" tag being a fair evaluation. |

Yeah, but he's still just 20. I wonder what specifically the issue is. Is he just hyper competitive, entitled, or is Cooper an issue.
I'm sure there are guys on the Hawks that have attitudes too, but grew up eventually. Who knows how the environment in Tampa is. |

maybe Kane is always slouching in pictures
And yeah, definitely not having a TT contact-avoiding problem with 72 - maria_wyeth
Think this shows the size differential the best. I see Kane at least 1" shorter and smaller framed the Panarin, despite what he may look like from above. In skates, he didn't look that much taller than Bowman last night. I never bought the 5'11" for Kane, but can imagine the more diminutive professional athletes, like the actors in Hollywood, love to fudge the numbers.

Take this for what it's worth, but seems like typical 20 year kid needs to grow up stuff, and nothing more serious. I'm sure the Hawks would put him in line.
But again, I'm not expecting them to make a deal for him, and their due diligence would be much stronger, especially with the Yzerman/Bowman connection.

Everyone is talking about a Schmaltz + for Drouin trade. Did Schmaltz play for Cooper in Green Bay? If so, wonder what his take on all of this would be. |

Maybe so. Bet Jim Nill doesn't care if Tyler Seguin had a crappy attitude either, though. |

We've probably all had jobs with companies/within cultures that just didn't "fit" for us or where we saw little growth potential (I know I have). Luckily, we likely weren't under contract and could leave as and when wanted. Pro athletes don't have that option, but I'm sure the fit issue could be the same in any job. Look at Sharpy - he's gone down to Dallas and had a bit of resurgence with a team that's using him differently than the Hawks were toward the end of his stint here. |

Barker was actually #3 as well.
It was Ovie, Malkin, then Barker...followed by Ladd and then Wheeler. I guess the Hawks got the lemon of the top 5 in that draft. |

Maybe but Seguin never asked for a trade. His issues were off the ice according to rumors. For whatever that is worth. |
