Sure glad that piece of scum no longer wears a Canucks uniform. Obvious intent to injure on Prust.

$6.95 million cap hit hit.

THANK GOD we don't have that on our books for the next 7 years.

I'm insane.

Kesler is a knob. No doubt he is a good player with a little grit or edge, goes over the line at times. The type of player you want on your team. When they are no longer on your team, fans can have differing opinions. Anyone that requests a trade should be shown the door when a reasonable move is worked out.

as per Kesler netting us this or that return and a roster spot, being a former team mate playing on the ducks- a possible trade partner, I don't think that can be all attributed to Kesler, it is just making the best out of the situation. getting on with life. Would the situation have been any worse if it was a different player of his stature asking for a trade? A top 6 player on another team? We all knew he was a sh!t when he played for us, now he is someone else's sh!t.
KB wouldn't accept a move anywhere he didn't want to go. he is getting paid well and was able to sign an extension. I'm sure there are a few other places he would have okay'd a move to. his time here was done. He must have some other friends around the league, playing for other teams....

Didn't Kesler give Dorsett a concussion with the blind side hit last season? Injure Prust last game? It really doesn't matter how you remember him, he doesn't care.

maybe I care a little too much..

I am not saying that he is not a knob. But I would rather things play out the way it did then what happened to Toronto and Sundin. The way he plays has not changed from his time here and we have defended his plays many times. That does not change. I don't like having personal attachments to players thus my comments. He was great when he was here and we were able to make something out of nothing when he didn't want to be here.
We have a coach that loves to play Prust in key moments in a game regardless of the outcome and we have dedicated pages upon pages complaining about the usage from WD but the only way that we know a change was going to happen was with an injury or a trade.
I am not supporting the injury but like I said I am not the one to have any attachments to players. You played great for us, now that your use for me is diminishing, it is time for you to call your real estate agent because you are moving. Benning is Kinda like that, but unfortunately the Aquilanis are more about the name on the back then the logo on the front.
Linden was great but he got us a boatload, Bure got us Jovo, Bert got us Lou. All I am saying is as big a player or a big douche all these guys got us something back in return. And I am happy the Kesler got us something that we can look forward to in return.
That is why I am on team Vantel and say sell the Sedins and get something in return because there are a ton of GM's there that will trade for the name on the back.

And the KB thing was a reach. I was stirring some poop.

I'm not on the Virtanen hate train here, I think hes a really promising prospect with an unique skillset and major upside. By process of needs/elimination was wondering how many would consider a Virtanen (likely plus another piece) for Drouin deal?

You have to give talent to get it and the Canucks cannot afford to give up center's such as McCann or Horvat. I like the skill upside of Drouin and think its more of a sure thing than the brawn of Virtanen. Could be a good deal or another Kassian-Hodgson

Virtanen's value is at an all time low right now.

But at least he doesn't seem as entitled as 20 year old in the 2nd year of entry level deal asking for a trade.

re: Virtanen for Drouin.
I wouldn't go there.
Drouin has talent no doubt, but if we were keen i would try "The Classic"
a package of a Top 4 Dman (Hamhuis?), prospect (Shink/Vey) and a 2nd.

Entitled or not, the guy wants to play and goes hard. JV has the tools but seems less interested at times, a comparison of the two's hockey IQ would likely not be close which is why I dont think JV even a few months ago would be worth Drouin straight up.
Seguin partied his way out of Boston and is looking pretty good at the moment... just saying some guys hit their stride after a change of scenery

That is a terrible idea. For a Tampa that is struggling to score goals, 21st in scoring and has scored only 5 more goals this season then Canucks to scratch an apparently offensive treat and a goal scoring machine in Drouin says a lot of what they think of the player and his attitude.
He was the Anson Carter of that McKinnon line and Tampa bought high.

Except he put up better numbers after Mackinnon left and his possession numbers are among tops in the league? He plays on a stacked and deep team, like Boston-Seguin, the asset is going to die there

EDIT: Also if half the Tampa forwards were playing up to their usual standards (even just Stamkos) they would be much further ahead of the Canucks in Goals-For. Not a prospects fault the coach has faith in what worked last year and wants them to figure out their slump

You mean when he was the older player playing with Ehlers?

Wow... give the kid a bit of credit. He had over 100 points in less than 50 games for two seasons in a row. I don't care who his linemates were...

This is why Canucks fans have such a bad Rep. You guys are jumping all over Virtanen for playing a weak 5 games under a mismanaged team. Yes he was undisciplined, yes he didn't put up the numbers everyone had hoped, but did ANYONE from team Canada put up numbers anyone had hoped? Canada's top point scorer had 6 points? Virtanen stock at an all time low after 5 games? You need to give your head a shake and stop reading the Province's BS paper by Botchford. He had a bad tournament, he was undisciplined, but he was one of the few players that played whistle to whistle and skated hard. Its ridiculous to see some of these comments.

Don't forget he's 18.
It's true that fans on here get swayed immensely in short periods of time.
Players like Hansen are included in trade proposals, get hot and are then valued.
Players hit slumps and we can't get rid of them quick enough.

It depends on when the trade happens. If we luck out and get first pick take mathews then I say McCann for drouin. I would not be offering a huge amount for him in any event. I think Drouin is a LW so then you also have to deal one of Sven or Shink because D. Sedin isnt going anywhere. You also have Gaunce at LW/C..

- Linden_4_Capt

I was referring to his NHL possession numbers. But sure, Ehlers is pretty good at hockey too. You have to have some solid hockey IQ to be that productive with many different players (Team Canada, who was he shotgunning there with, another set of forwards). He might not meet the hype some throw at him but he should still manage top-6 and isnt just the 3rd guy on his line
