Why would you want that? Drouin sucks bad according to people who follow Tampa. There's a reason he's only played 9 games.

Booth is available too as a UFA, perhaps you want him too

- SMBDragon

OK.....they're the same player.

Drouin got hurt earlier this year. He's what 21?

Bright spot for the night? Gotta be Beiga...in my opinion he's the best d man on the team right now !
- Bullfrog77

Imagine if he was paired with a real #3 Dman and not Bart.

When everyone is healthy, what does our D unit look like?

Edler/Tanev
Sbisa/Biega
Hutton/Hammer
Bart
Weber

Interesting article re Chychrun being passed in draft standing.
The play of Finland could be a silver lining if Vancouver gets pick 5-7.

Being only 21 doesn't excuse the fact that he's acting like a selfish, entitled brat who's inability to put up points on the board in the NHL had him rightly sent to the AHL where he immediately went public with his trade demands. Sounds to me like he's another Kesler in the making minus the teammate wife-(frank)ing.

He doesn't have an inability to put up points, he doesn't get along with his coach. He's young and feels that this is his best course of action. It's a top 3 pick that won't turn 21 for another two months........

The Stars bought low on Seguin and look at where they are now.

I have seen a few posters compare Drouin to Seguin.

Drouin over his first two years has 6 goals and 34 assists 40 pts in 91 games.

In Seguins second year he had 38 assists in 81 games. He also scored 29 goals that year. In his first year he also scored 11 goals and 11 assists.

40 goals compared to 6 after two years is a huge difference. I am not sure Drouin will be getting much more NHL time this year. Depends on whether some team wants to pay a boatload for a below average player.

War on ice is a bit weird for me. For example (and I know this is a small sample size):

WOI says that Drouin had 1 goal and 24 assists last season in 76 games.

NHL.com says that Drouin had 4 goals and 28 assists in 70 games.

For a site that people quote so regularly on here for advanced stats, you would think that they would at least be able to get things like goals and assists correct. Makes you wonder what else they are getting wrong...

Either way it is a player that I would not give up a lot to get. We already have Higgins with 2 and Burrows with 5 . Maybe we should target a guy who can score 10 a year.

Yeah... turns out I had a filter on that I didn't think was on. WOI is fine.

As for Drouin, I'm not gonna get into it again. I think he's going to be a very good player eventually, but it seems like most on here are not convinced so we'll just agree to disagree.

He has scored at a rate of 1.64 points per 60 minutes of ice time, which is highest on the Lightning this season... Do you think he's gotten a legitimate chance to prove himself?

Put it this way. Coaches that turn third overall draft picks into personal whipping boys without any excuse, usually don't last long. I think whatever lack of respect Douin has be given has been earned.

I can't see Stamkos just standing by and watching his top draft prospect be neutered by the coach for no other reason than to make him an example.

Other prospects have thrived in that system so why isn't Drouin.

I can go by what I have seen, and every game I have seen him I have been underwhelmed .

Who's to say W.D would give him a better chance?

Getting Drouin in theory could represent a great leap forward in the rebuild, or a massive setback ala Burke trying to fit a square peg through a round hole (Kessel trade).

All about that process

Besides, Shink is showing better development and undoubtedly already possess better character traits.

If Benning didn't want to give up prospects for proven players like Hamonic or Johansen, I don't see him giving up prospects or assets for unproven players.

I bet half the people on here wouldn't be willing right now to trade Janik Hansen for Johnny Drouin.

Hansen is a recently promoted 3 Rd liner who has been given the name Stone Hands. If you are not willing to move him why would you want to trade a first round draft pick like Shink who is putting up nice numbers in the AHL?

Yes....build thru the middle of the ice!! Domi's too small to be an NHL center.
- LeftCoaster

well guess i'll take comfort in knowing I'm smarter than you...

BTW - Domi's 6", 200lbs as a 20 yr old and only gonna get bigger/stronger) - close to being a point per game producer as rookie.....seems to be handling himself just fine out there...

I get the feeling that management is thinking "Well we're injured, but once those guys come back we'll be actually good"

I really hope that Virtanen goes back to the WHL and once Sutter is healthy that Vey takes over McCann's spot and he goes back to OHL.

Heck, I'd even explore sending Bo and Hutton to the AHL, even for a little, and running Hank-Sutter-Vey-Cracknell down the middle.

any player on their entry level deal can be sent down and called up with impunity..... but sending Bo down makes zero sense
