If we can have a highly competitive team, with a new look roster, a great youth movement with all the cupboards stocked on the farm in 3 years then I will gladly take 3 more years of being a below average team in order to get where we need to be. Hybrid Rebuilds don't work and unless you have those foundational cornerstone players (which we lack apart from our aging sedins), we need to do a refresh here and plan for the future. Immediate aches and pains for future gains my friend.

I think everyone would be willing to sacrifice poor hockey now for a bevy of talent later. Unfortunately, many teams fail to acquire that talent even though they pile up players and prospects.
I think at the end of the day that most of your players will not reach their potential and that the ones who will reach their potential need to be surrounded by vets and get a chance to be in a competitive environment in order to be successful.
I haven't been a fan of all of this mgmt's moves but I respect that they have been insulating their youth and are trying to give them the experience of playoffs or at least the push towards playoffs.
That doesn't mean that I don't support moving some vets for assets but I'm not convinced that tanking for 3 seasons is any more of a guarantee of success than trying to be competitive while developing youth.
