There's always someone willing to pay the price to get what they feel is the piece they need. - LeftCoaster
True but I was referring to Erat for Forsberg type deals. It would be similar to Vrabata for Leon Draisaitl type of trade. |

32 year old Erat got Nashville Forsberg.
Capitals could use Hamhuis. Hamhuis for Orlov. - Scooby_Doo
It's possible Hammer could net us a decent (already NHL)player coming back I just feel the days of him being worth a 1st or a prospect are over. |

Not really because Forsberg, up until that point, when he was traded, hadn't played in North America yet. Draisaitl is a known commodity. |

It's not often I defend Botch, but his article was perfectly reasonable. It's whatever editor who came up with the headline that deserves a public ball kicking. - CubanBuffet
Wait wouldn't Botch come up with the headline for his own article? Of course the editor is a parasite as well for not blocking him |

No…he had nothing to do with the back page headline. His article was fair and actually defended Jake and his abilities. It's guilt by association.
That crusty old fart, who's name escapes me, was on 1040 yesterday telling how the headlines are chosen. He used to work for the Province but retired? |

Gallagher? Honestly I think it is hilarious to hear everyone crying about how the "local" media is being mean to Jake.
The article was fine, the headline was inflammatory but that is what the purpose of it was. Jake will be fine.
Many of the people who laughing about worrying about players feelings earlier this season are the ones complaining that the media is too mean to Jake. |

Sekera went for a 1st and a prospect who was drafted in the 2nd round (Mckeown), just last year and he was a pure rental. I'd say hammer is the better d-man... We should get at least that return - Mungo
Totally.
There will always be a team that feels the need to cash in and make a run, or secure a playoff spot (Washington, Edmonton for example).
We used to over-value all our trade chips/prospects.
Now we under-value everything.
I think a 1st from a playoff team is not unreasonable, if Hamhuis returns to form before the TDL |

Why doesn't it surprise me that you would be fine with singling out a single player to blame for a team game.
And for the record, I don't give a f*ck about his feelings, it was the type of low bar 'journalism' that pissed everyone off. |

Did you read the article ?
The province isn't even low bar journalism, it's a tabloid. They used that headline specifically so everyone was pissed off and talked about it for the next 2 weeks.

The headline did what it was supposed to do.
It got people talking.
The Province is not some high brow bastion of balanced journalism here folks...it's the province...it's a gossip rag. |

Botchford's article was fair. It's not the article, it was the 'tabloid' ( you are right spot on ) headline that was so shameful. Hopefully, with the Eddie Lack love fest tonight, this will all be water under a bridge. |

I'm pretty sure Hamhuis would want to go to a top team and if he does waive there's a lot of teams that you would consider contenders that do have a big need for a LHD for their top 4.
chicago - LHD = Keith, Van Reimsdyk, and Scuderi... very weak other than Keith of course.
Dallas - LHD = Goligoski, Oduya, Jokipakka.... Hamhuis would be an upgrade on all three
LA - LHD = Mcnabb, Muzzin, Ehrhoff.... Hamhuis would be an upgrade there as well
Pitt LHD = Maata, Domoulin, warsofsky (sp?)... big upgrade on 2 there
Wash LHD - Alzner, Orlov, Orpik (currently DL)
I think those could all be possible destinations and all have needs for a top 4 LHD |
