Norris trophy candidate. lets see where he is 3/4 years from now. looks good so far, offensively on the pp and overtime. lets see him go around the league 1 time.
let me guess you have always thought he would be a stud player right? didn't pull anything from my ass, gave my opinion chico. your a chump. - rinaldo
Who called him a Norris Trophy candidate? All he did was prove that, yes, you did call him a bust. Anyone saying he's a Norris candidate right now is delusional.

Come on, man -- that is not what I am saying. He's talking crazy that he wants to go to a contender! Like who?! Even if he could still play, which he can't, what contender is absorbing that cap hit?
The Flyers aren't eating another crap deal coming back, and it sure as hell doesn't look like they're wanting to eat any salary to send him packing, so what the hell is he even talking about?
If he wants to sit and collect, great. But if you really want to play, don't peddle that delusion like there's nothing you can do except wait for the fates to align.
If you believe you still have it, then terminate. Or sit in the Shelley Suite and collect.
Every single thing else is delusional -- hell, I want a unicorn every Christmas, but that doesn't mean I am going to get one! - AllInForFlyers
Whoever did the interview would have been smart to sneak this in after he said he wants another chance...
"Vinny, have you thought about going to the Flyers to see if a mutual termination would be amendable since you feel you can still play? That way you can go on the open market to find a chance?"
Or in some way like that. a good follow up question

More so, in a cap world actual payed salary and cap hit are completely separate numbers.
He could have a 4.5 mil cap hit, but only have a salary payment of 1 mill. He might feel that he could take a little less (or around the same amount) else where and actually play. Do well and make more actual money the next contrac.t - jak521
Sometimes its not the same for sure. He says it's not about money. He's not going to play with the Flyers. Staying with the Flyers ensures he is not going to play. He can hope the Flyers buy him out, which I wouldn't if I was the Flyers, or he can agree to mutually terminate. Either way, I don't see him becoming a regular player. I don't believe he can be traded.

If I were Hextall ( and I would assume talks like these have already taken place) I would let him know that we have no intentions of buying him out, and that he will never be an every day player for them again. They have a different direction they are looking to go and want to get the younger guys more experience.
Pretty much let him know, if you have any desire to play at all again, you better think about terminating
