Sure they can say that. Nothing wrong with it, and it's being honest with the player. That doesn't violate his player rights, or his contract in any way. - MJL
Use some context man...obviously they can speak those words to him. But it is an empty threat given the salary cap situation |

RH: Vinny, why don't you terminate?
VL: For the last time, I OW! What the hell was that?
RH: What was what?
VL: You hit me with a crowbar you son, OW! Stop that?
RH: Stop what?
VL: Ron, if you, OW! God dammit! (hits Hextall)
RH: Vinny, since you attacked a member of this front office, I have no choice but to terminate your employment.
VL: You hit me first, with a crowbar.
PH: No he didn't. - jmatchett383
RH: Vinny, listen bud, its just not the right fit, you know?
VH: Huh?
RH: I guess what I am trying to say is, you need to terminate, asap.
VH: What?
RH: Ahh Jesus... Paul can you come here?
PH: Whats going on?
RH: Watch... Vinny, you are no longer welcome here. Thats it. Final. You MUST terminate your contract.
VH: I.. wha.. no.
PH: Ahhh... he doesnt understand. Ronny are you forgetting he is a Francophone?
RH: Crap, get Bellamare in here quick.
PH: He is practicing, you know, because he can still play.
VL: I speak english.
RH to PH: Did you catch that? He is trying! Thats the most effort we have seen in years.
PH: Ill get Bernie.
BP: Look at d'size of my nordique!

There's no precedence for a mutual termination of an SPC? - MJL

I hope he has a wonderful birthday.
One year closer to being worm food. - flyer_nutter
That's pretty grotesque dude. I was born the year after their last cup. I've been waiting for another one every year since I was old enough to watch and enjoy hockey. Snider has made possible every single Flyers game I've ever watched. Do I like all of his decisions? Of course not... but waiting for him to die? That's kinda sick. |

FWIW:
•Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Vincent Lecavalier is still hopeful that the Flyers will be able to trade him before his career is over. He hasn’t played since November 15th.
“It’s obviously been tough,” Lecavalier said. “But at the same time, I’m not going to the rink pissed off every day. I mean, I’m not playing, there’s nothing else you need to say. The only thing I can control is just how hard I practice and how ready I am for when either I come back into the lineup or if something happens with a trade or something like that.”
It’s in the best interest of the Flyers if they can move on from Lecavalier. Lecavalier has two years left at a $4.5 million cap hit ($3 million salary), which is scaring teams. LeBrun thinks that if a trade can’t be worked out, Lecavalier and his agent Kent Hughes could consider terminating his contract (similar to what Alex Semin did earlier this year) and hope to sign a team at a reduced salary.
“The only chance he has is to take a big pay cut and become a good third- or fourth-line player,” said one Western Conference NHL scout via text Tuesday. - J35Bacher
"Hi Kent! Call me!"

No they don't.
They have already shown a willingness to play anyone BUT Vinny. - J35Bacher
So it was Arron Asham dressed up in a Lecavalier jersey that played 7 games this season? It makes sense given how much he tried to hurt Brayden Schenn |

Let's look at the context of the current season man.... The Flyers have called up players how many times, to bypass playing Lecavalier? So it's not really an empty threat. It's a threat that has been exercised.
Now there certainly is the potential for multiple injuries to happen, that could force the Flyers to play Lecavalier in a few games, but there really is no scenario where Lecavalier will see regular playing time. |

LA game: Flyers dressed 7 defenseman and scratch Matt Read. Now they could have played Vinny over read but decided to play 7 defenseman instead of giving Vinny some time.
They have dressed Colin McDonald, Taylor Leier and Nick Cousins over Vinny.
I don't think the threat is empty. |

I think at this point they would sign Jay Rosehill over playing Vinny. |

Holy poop. A western conference scout actually believes he could be a "good" bottom 6 player? Hexy, find out what team this man works for. Pronto. |

It's not like VL wants out for no reason -- (right or wrong) the team refuses to give him an opportunity and life is miserable for him.
Imagine the slippery slope that could become. - Tomahawk
They played him 64 times over the past seasons and a half, and he was terrible, so they stopped playing him. |

Most people claiming to be in the know like Lebrun and this random western scout are probably just assuming he still is an NHL player. They haven't done their homework IMO or they are afraid of offending a player of his past stature |

Ya know, Matt Cooke did damage to VL's career several years ago when he slashed his arm badly.
Maybe we can sign him as a 15th forward and have him finish the job in practice.
Or give a draft pick/$$ to a cooperating GM for a nothing player. The GM signs Matt Cooke, puts him in the lineup vs the Flyers and its the one game VL gets in...
Talk about fantasy sports..... - Steelmanpa
Just put him in the lineup Feb. 4th. It will take care of itself. |
