I dont recall that being an argument at all, and it certainly wasn't one I was involved in
is what I am referring to - YuenglingJagr
What you're referring to is a discussion on the legal aspects of Lecavalier mutually terminating, and if it would cause any future issues with player contracts. |

I believe teams should play every player on their roster before making a call up. Call ups obviously have to depend on the position that needs to be filled but regardless, I think teams should play everyone before calling up another player. - SuperSchennBros
I would have been very intrigued to see one of VLC/Gudas/Schenn playing goal when Mason was out. |

At least he gets paid for it. It is his only safety net. Any termination is a leap of faith and he will have to trust the information his agent collects to see if he can sign elsewhere for a contract that would be worth it - YuenglingJagr
He's getting paid by Tampa Bay for another 10 years. They bought out 7 or 8 years of his last contract. |

Has yet to win a Norris or break Bobby Orr's scoring records. Definite bust. |

I agree.
Because no player in his right mind is going to say it's about the money. It's always about the money for every player. Always. Every. He wants to play in the NHL again but he also isn't going to simply walk away from the money. - Scoob
So there is no possibility that his statement about it not being about the money, is genuine? |

I might be in the minority here, but I'd rather make money and have a team not play me than not make money and not have a job. |

I loved it when he signed here and thought he would be a nice role model.
I am not wrong I was just misguided. - Streit2ThePoint
I always opposed the signing so I can gloat like a MOAT |

If he was going to terminate, I'd imagine it'd be July 2nd, right after that $2mm bonus hits his bank account.
To me the decision is more about freeing up roster space to work in youngsters and have flexibility. Granted salary cap space is part of that flexibility, but a buy out gives you both cap and roster space. - Jsaquella
Agree...and for reference...July 1st is the last bonus he gets and it is only 500k this time |

LOL, I stand by everything I said. Unfortunately, I can't predict that a player will sustain an injury, which would greatly speed up his decline. I have no problem with the reason why he was signed. Unfortunately, it just hasn't worked out. - MJL
Yes. His ten game stretch when he was shooting 25% and on pace for 60 points. How could I forget? |

The signing bonus Lecavalier is due this off season is 500K, not 2M |

FWIW, I don't think he's going to terminate his deal. I think that the Flyers end up buying him out either this summer or the summer of 2017.
For me, the possibility only exists because I think he does have pride and does want to play, or go out on his skates as Timonen said last season.
The only way that happens is if he terminates or Hextall agrees to buy him out. Now the latter may or may not happen, but the only way Vinny can force it is to terminate. All that said, I still think he doesn't. |

I totally get that, but Vinny has made countless comments about how he wants to play and play for a contender and yadda yadda yadda.
Welp, there is really only one way that happens. He holds that key. |

Most of you know that I've defended Vinny for awhile now.
Vinny aside, and even though it's not within the rules of the cap, I believe teams should play every player on their roster before making a call up. Call ups obviously have to depend on the position that needs to be filled but regardless, I think teams should play everyone before calling up another player. Just my belief but what the rules are and what I believe are 2 different things.
- SuperSchennBros
I disagree with that approach for professional sports. That's a fine way to run a rec soccer program, though.
Now back to Vinny.
Vinny's skating to me is the only thing that holds him back. I don't think he's horrid player but I do think he's an embarrassingly horrid skater. Outside of the game in Calgary, I liked his play downlow in the offensive zone but if I have to bring up Calgary, that might have been the single worst performance I've ever seen a Hockey player play.
However, if Vinny were to play as much as Umberger has this season, even with all of Vinny's limitations, I think Vinny would out produce RJ Umberger. It's not even a question for me.
I think Umberger offers very little right now. Maybe even less than Vinny.
I'd rather see VL than RJU, too. |

VLC already has a cup, and a Rocket Richard trophy. Im sure he is content sitting in a press box making almost $55,000 per game to do it. |

This is fine. I just think calls ups should be more strict. The Flyers aren't great right now anyway. Regardless of how Vinny made the team, he's on the roster. How they use him is up to the Coach. Calls to me should be used in case of an injury.
Again, what the rules are and what I believe are two different things. |

Nope. None. Zero. He can say it's not about the money because he's getting it.
Here's what it boils down to - he wants to play and he wants the money. Right now he's only getting one of those. He wants both. Is that a completely rational desire? Probably not, but I understand it. |
