my exact thoughts. If he truly believed in his ability and money wasn't an issue, he would terminate and look for another deal. a team may take a chance on him at the league minimum but no way a team trades for that contract. - nastyflyergirl
he could be an asset to a team like Carolina...next year they will have a hell of a time reaching the cap floor if they let ward and staal walk |

I agree with the vast majority of your take on things, but on this one, I don't understand why you feel.it's horrific for Wheels to.terminate. - AllInForFlyers
I don't think it's bad for Vinny personally or the Flyers... I hated the signing and would like nothing more than be rid of him.
My point is that it's a huge potential loop hole to get around guaranteed contracts... would undermine a lot of what his peers fought to maintain in those two lockouts.
Ilya Kovalchuk walked away from the Devils, they benefited from the cap space they gained. It's not like the Flyers would be the only team in the league to have seen a termination benefit them. - AllInForFlyers
Kovy retired and went to another league. Not quite the same as what Vinny's expected to do here.
Sit and collect, terminate and possibly get the chance with a contender. Either way, he chooses, because the Flyers have clearly made their decision - AllInForFlyers
Termination would set a dangerous precedent for the players (see above)... but dude really wants to play. Status quo torpedoes his career completely.
He's talking all this hopeful poop because he wants to resolve this w/ a trade -- that's the magic out for him, no matter how improbable it probably is. |

Can they trade him to the Sixers? Hinkie will take anyone as long as the deal includes a 2nd round pick |

Well we're not on the same page on this one. He has a lot of money, and he's still getting paid by the Lightning. I think he wants to play more than then he wants the money. - MJL
I think if that were true he wouldve mutually terminated and/or accepted a trade to wherever already |

Isn't there is a flip side to that? If you think the Flyers should uphold their end of the deal, how about Lecavalier? Doesn't he owe to the Flyers to play well, and to meet the expectations when he was signed? Can't have it just one way. If you want to look at it like the Flyers should play him, then Lecavalier has to play like he was expected to. - MJL
There is no flip side. We both know he isn't going to simply play well, especially if he can't get into a rhythm.
Defind play well.
To me this post is like expecting someone not to age. It's realistic to allow Vinny to play. It's unrealistic to expect Vinny to fly because the Flyers want him to.

What draft pick would the Flyers have to give up to sweeten the deal?

Then he shouldn't bother coming to practice, to the rink, or to the games. Just stay home. The organization should consider it to be a buyout, except they still have to deal with the cap hit.
My problem with Lecavalier stems from his comments regarding him wanting to play. If he's such a proud player, he'd waive his NMC and go to the Phantoms. Don't worry, he'll pass through waivers because it's clear that no one wants him. If he's so concerned about playing, he could also terminate his contract. Not consider the possibility of doing so, but actually do it. - KGBflyers10
I agree. I'm just saying that if it comes down to making money to not do something as opposed to not making money to not do something, 100% of people are going to make money.
Now, if it's make money to not do something or make less money to do something you love, things can change. But yes, if he truly wants to play, waiving his NMC or terminating are the best options. |

Keep collecting his % on the deal Lecavalier signed with the Flyers. |

I did not see your post about it being a dangerous precedent...I dont think it would at all. mutual terminations are specific to individual players

His agent may have other plans.
Also, if you believe he should do that, you probably also believe in unicorns. - Pecafan Fan
Oh I don't believe he would remotely do it nor do i think his agent would want that.....just saying if he believes he can still play, and I don't think he can, then prove it and terminate and get another deal. |

Why should they be more strict? The Flyers are paying the guys they call up, shouldn't they be allowed to ice the team they feel gives them the best chance to win?
If it wasn't for his no move clause, Vinny would probably not be on the roster. He only earned that spot because they can't send him away unless he agrees to go - Jsaquella
Every team has a chance to ice the team they feel has the best chance to win during training camp. The Flyers organisation offered him this deal. He's willing to play. Live with this. |

They could give up a prospect instead of a pick. In the trade I mentioned, Vinnys salary is actually an asset |

Carolina may not want to pay him the actual dollars. Unlike the Flyers, some teams actually have an internal operating budget. |

He is willing to play, but he's not one of the best 29 or 30 players in the organization. Again, he's only on the roster because of a no move clause, not because he can play.

With all due respect, that's kooky talk. Nobody in their right mind who believed he could still play is going to walk away from guaranteed money and hope he gets picked up somewhere else. |
