This was my thought post trade as well. it's easy to say we missed out on white, konecny but i think the reality is there was a virtually zero percent chance of us getting one of them. - Sabresfan-365
And really I would have rather had the forward. I wanted another scoring player that we had developing in the wings. I like what Murray says about drafting a goalie late each year because you never really know so why not draft later. But I agree, everything I heard sounded like we were going to draft the goalie with that pick.
Who is everyone? Im not sure how the sentence could have possibly tripped you up. You're basing your assessment of lehner on cherry picked figures and ignoring the reality that most goalies go up/down in value at least a few times in their careers.

Im with you and SB on this its just seemed like to me the bolded was inevitable. Scary thing is, look at some of the other goalies that were traded for in the summer, pretty good bunch but a chance that lehner ends up being the best of them.
I never disliked the trade because of Lehner himself, i disliked it because unless you're one of the truly elite, your numbers are almost always a reflection of the team in front of you, so why bother investing so heavily in that position? Granted you can't just plug guys like CJ in there and just assume it will work but look at Greiss with islanders. It should have been a much lower priority IMO.
But see, that's where the problem lies.
It's not just one trade. - Pluviophile
So it's two. You're still judging trades early. What happens if Colin White never makes the NHL? Do we win that trade? What happens if Lemiuex doesn't? Or if Myers goes back to looking like a baby giraffe? What if next year Kane and O'Reilly click and Kane scores 30 and Stafford get 10. Is it better? If we make the playoffs with Lehner as our goaltender and Ottawa misses in 2 years should the Ottawa GM be fired?
You're very quick to jump on "this team won the trade" and "Murray got fleeced" but the fact of the matter is no one, and I mean no one, knows who won that trade until we look back and can see all that happened because of it. That's why, from the beginning, I've preached patience. Let's see what the whole team can do. Let's see Lehner play 40 games in blue and gold before we start deciding to kill Murray. Let's have Kane finish the year. Let's have a team without 10 to be free agents.
This is a FULL rebuild. This was not a retool and back in the playoffs in 2 years. This was tear it down, start from scratch, and let's do it right. If we see the finished product and it's not good, then unfortunately you'll be right. But without seeing it altogether you're stressing and whining and complaining over something that you can't change and something that, without seeing into the future, can't know.

Cherry picked?
His entire career is not great
I can certainly supply you the rest.
Once again, i'll repeat, the most games that Lehner has ever played in is 47 and that was back in 2009/10 with an OHL team but here's the rest of his stats since you assume I cherry picked, and this is Murray's #1 ? http://www.hockeydb.com/i...s/pdisplay.php?pid=120942

Can we stop feeding the troll and hope he goes away please? He will either get banned or the main posters will not be on (which sucks, and is already happening) Banish him to garth blogs? He will fit in well there.
We can only hope that it is. There is plenty of things to be banned for and im sure making the regulars shut down and not comment will have its affect.

The scary part is, Johnson has out-performed all of them as far as GAA and sv% go. Jones has more wins, but SJ has been a better team overall this year than we have been.

You forgot a few of these - Zschalberg
Not sure if you are comprehending? 47 games is the most this guy has ever played in his career in one season .
Not any other numbers but the games played.
47 games does not a #1 goalie make.
Again, this is Murray's #1 goalie of the future.

That's an unprotected 1st rounder they gave up too.

Too late, ive engaged. Stash is going to have to take one of us out. - Sabresfan-365
Eh I'd stop at this point. He's either just trying to troll, or is just really whiny. Either way, it's the same as arguing with a 4 year old. Even if you're right and have proven it, they'll reply with "I'm not going to waste my time to explain it to you" and end their argument that way. I'd respect it a lot more if he'd give alternative solutions rather than saying he's right about Murray and Lehner and that's all we need to know.

I comprehended. He hasn't played much. So I don't know if he's good or not. So I'd like to watch him play. I'll be at the game on Friday in Rochester to do so.
Is there a goalie you'd like us to pick up in his stead or no?

Comments seem to be flying pretty fast and furious from what I see.
But seriously speaking, if you don't like what I post, simply ignore it and continue scrolling.
It's a very simple philosophy.
I do that with certain posters.
You should try that.
