Sorry but, I carried this over from last blog.
the draft lottery is the worst thing in sports. The fact that a good team can have injuries to stars/bad stretches and just miss out on playoffs have the chance to get 1st overall is a joke. The reason why the worst team drafts 1st is so they can become competitive and win games. You're pretty much punishing teams for being bad. Unreal lol. Definitely with this being a salary cap league. One of the few proven ways to get out of the basement is through the draft. And usually players picked 1st or 2nd overall are much better than those picked 3,4,5 etc.
- Smittyx36
I get that Smitty, I really do.
But then on the other hand you have GM's like Murray that make a mockery of the system and blatantly trade off good parts and bring in bad parts.
Something needed to be done because of GM's like Murray that feel the only way that he can build a winning team is to deliberately fail and then get rewarded for making a mockery of a game so rich in history that would squash Murray like the spineless cockroach that he is.
Hard for this guy to respect someone like that - Pluviophile
You're acting like Murray was the first GM to do this.
Pittsburgh blatantly bombed I can't even call it tanked to get Mario. Calling Murray a spineless cockroach because he did what he had to do to get a franchise changing player is the dumbest thing I have ever read. In fact had the Sabres not decided to do the proper thing and tear the whole f'ing thing down they would still be flirting with the 8 seed with no hope in sight and have a 35 year old Ryan Miller still between the pipes, and a only back check when I feel like gambling addict in Vanek still making faces like he has to take a massive crap. |

Kasdorf is a college goalie and actually hasn't looked that bad. Believe he plays for RPI. Baker talks about him once in a while. Not saying he'll ever do anything, just answering the rhetorical question - Zschalberg
Actually, just looked up this years stats on him, very good for this year, for a weak team (I read the team he plays for is not that great).

jack johnson will slide down to the second pair for the blue jackets with this trade
he has left handed shot
good for pp
can play 25 minutes a night
cap hit under 5 mil per
kick the tires? - homiedclown
The Jackets just might be dumb enough to trade him, but it would still cost a ton. I'm thinking they would want Reinhart. |

RPI plays in the ECAC and they are always considered the weak link.
To say his team is not great is an understatement. |

Mario Lemieux and the Penguins say hi. You should probably know the history before you say someone spit in its face. |

That was the piece I felt was the over payment by Murray in that deal.
Bogosian is worse than average.
I disliked Myers but i'd take Myers back in a NY minute over Bogosian.
Where is this Kasdorf fellow?
I copied and pasted this next part.
Seriously look at this deal and try to tell me that Murray did not get taken out back behind the woodshed and get the (frank) beaten out of him.
I wish the stupid would have beaten out of him to boot....but no such luck.
The Sabres have completed a blockbuster trade.
Buffalo has sent defenseman Tyler Myers, right wing Drew Stafford, prospects Joel Armia and Brendan Lemieux, plus a 2015 first-round pick (whichever one ends up being the latest in the round) to the Winnipeg Jets for right wing Evander Kane, defenseman Zach Bogosian and goaltending prospect Jason Kasdorf. - Pluviophile
Kasdorf is playing for 20th ranked Rensselaer...he's 5-5-1 with a 2.12 gaa and .934 sv% |

The bashing of Murray for this is a little ridiculous. I also hate the lottery and feel the worst time should pick first. But, at very least they should have left the lottery alone the way they had it, with only the bottom 5 teams being in it.
As for Murray, yeah, he tanked on purpose, but it's not like he's the only GM to ever do this. Toronto and Ari. both tanked on purpose last year and yet nobody has ever given the chit about it. Nothing was more blatant then when Arizona's goal scored on his own net.
As for Murray trading of nothing so we could lose, that's a complete crock! We were in the middle of a rebuild, we were stockpiling picks an prospects. Who exactly did he send away for nothing? Myers for Bogo was D for D, they're the same age, same contract, even swap. Everyone knew Murray wanted Kane and he traded non NHLers and a UFA to get him, so who did he ship away? Stafford? that's a joke.
Miller and Ott were both UFA's and weren't going to be resigned, same for Halak who told us to piss off, Ewok is nothing but a back up, Neuvirth may be the only decent player shipped away.
Flynn, Mitchell, Stewart, oh, yeah they're Stanley Cup material.
Bottom line, Murray sent away UFA's who weren't going to be resigned and got back assets. We now have 2/3 of a quality team because of it.

Agree on both, i think he would be very productive in role similar to 82's . 3rd or 4th line winger that could play a shift or to a game in top 6. Also a first line PK guy |

Whatever other GM or GM's did this, are just as spineless to me as Murray.
Only talking about him because he is sadly the GM for a hockey team that I have cheered for since their inception, the more recent and perhaps the most smugly deliberately open about it.
Yea, takes a real genius to do what Murray did, boy oh boy he sure does deserve a feather in that cap.
