Yea, we won't ever agree on this.
I don't like/respect Murray and I do not think that he is a very good GM and I guess that pretty well sums it up.
I know in the end, sometime soon I will be right about him if not already.
His lopsided losing deals will eventually mound up like the steaming poop pile he is.
I won't mention another word about how bad Murray sucks until Lehner flops on his face.
I'm done for now.

so...because darcy won deals, did that make him a great gm? - Michael Pachla
On Darcy's budget , Darcy did his job quite admirably.
There were times I don't know how he managed to ice such a competitive team with the restraints that were set upon him.
Darcy may not have been the best GM when he was finally given an opportunity to spend a few dollars after years of living in a cave, but he never made deals, such one sided deals that in my opinion Murray has.
Murray got the (frank) beat out of him Cheveldayoff, absolute snot kicked out of him.

vanek deal - homiedclown
I tried to quickly figure out what we ended up with, but the trades upon trades kind of ruined that.
I do know two pieces they got were Matt Moulson who is now on the team's worst contract, and Robin Lehner. I don't consider that a "win". Even if you consider what the Islanders ended up having to move Vanek for, I still look at it like Alien versus Predator: nobody wins.

You're special...
So I will spell it out for you...
Finishing last guaranteed Eichel. The extra bonus would have been getting McDavid...but anyway I have had enough of elementary school for the moment. - Stripes77
You can attack me all you want.
I'm not attacking you.
I'll be the bigger man.
Oh well.

after 2007, his teams missed the playoffs four times and never made it out of the first round the other two times.

Because those Ville Leino and Christian Ehrhoff deals worked out so well for the Blue and Gold...
Darcy lucked into a team out of the lockout and rode the best goalie on the planet in 99 to the cup finals.
Darcy didn't have the know how to add depth players for a playoff run, his big deadline acquisition...Bob Corkum

The last two his hands were pretty much tied. Although, supposedly Calgary offered Iginla for Peca.

Ville Lameo and Christian Erhoff say hi!
Not trades, but wasted millions on him.
Darcy was a complete and utter A-hole. He felt he had to simply dominate a trade before he did one...and he sucked just as much as he won. you couldn't re-write the 17 years of crappy Sabres history, save 2 years, any worse.
