Talent Analysis

Gormley is a talented two-way defenseman who provides skill, poise, and leadership on the back-end. Although he is an all-around defenseman, Gormley is developing into an exceptional offensive player with lethal power-play skills. His ability as a distributor, his hard, accurate shot, and strong in-zone work compares favorably with other young defenseman.
Future

Gormley was dealt by the Arizona Coyotes to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Stefan Elliott and will attend his first training camp with Colorado in 2015-16. Entering his fourth pro season, Gormley has been highly-regarded as a prospect and for both him and the equally-heralded Elliot the trade could jumpstart their career fortunes. The Avalanche have several talented young defensemen so he will have his work cut out for him to stay with the NHL club on a permanent basis. Long-term Gromley projects as a puck mover who can contribute to the attack from the backend.

I'm going to keep an eye on Brendan Lemieux. I think this was the make or break in the Tyler Myers trade. I would have loved to have kept him. Goal a game pace in the OHL this year.

With Gibson going down, one would assume it is longer term (seemed to be 4-6 weeks, trading for a goalie means longer?) and Khudobin to call up, why trade for a goalie?

And Gormley on waivers? Why? What? I want the Sabres to grab him, but dont know much about him.
