"What about if the Hawks can solve the LW problem for less cost in both $$ and pick/propects and have that guy play with kane and move 72 up with hossa/toews."

Perron and Hornqvist were playing chippy the whole game. Letang saved his garbage for late.

Did Bickell even have a hit? One would think a guy trying to keep his job would step up as a "role player" to overshadow the obvious physical limitations.

- tredbrta

Bickell had plenty of hits when he consistently planted his ass on the ice falling down

Then he should take it to LTIR and get whatever surgeries/rehab he needs... Do the team a favor at the same time. I feel for the guy but he shouldn't be playing. It looks like the knees are shot. If the vertigo is still there at all though just sit.
- tredbrta

I agree its painful to watch him play and I m sure he can't be happy. Maybe Toews has a talk with him and convinces him to have surgery and go on LTIR for the benefit of the team

Can you imagine if Bowman found someone who can produce in that spot for Morin ? Lololololol
- mrpaulish

That would solve the mystery of why he was willing to take him back in the Saad trade....what foresight!!!

One thing I did find is Scuds only makes 2.5 next year and Penns pay 1.1 of it. So for a team looking to get to the cap floor they would pay him 1.4 but get to claim 2.25. you could trade for a few scrubs making under $950K and bury them in the AHL. It could save the team Money and get them more money apllied to cap space. IE might now need a 2nd

bickell is a whole another story. He is the opposite.

Great point about Scuderi. Thanks!

Just an asumption based on the fact that he stood in front of cameras in TO yesterday while his name is on the Marlie roster, Panik's name is still non existing on either Hawks or Hogs.

checkn in on stars vs jets....

yes patrick sharp has found life in the green sweater very good...

however same old sharpie in close....blows around the jet dman, has the jet goalie down and he slams into his pad...had the whole net to pop it in...

some things never change....

hawks picking up some wins has very nicely coincided with other central teams losing (Dallas losing three in a row was particularly lovely)

30 goal scorer...yea some things never change. Not sure the point of this. Sharp was a great player for the Hawks and you can bet the Stars are enjoying his services, despite his "incompetence" as a sniper.

Not sure if it's been mentioned today/tonight but Hartman and Leighton were selected for the AHL All Star Game.

The importance of Barry Smith (the long time coach and part of the Hawks staff) in getting Panarin shouldn't be overlooked. Smith coached in the KHL for a while and has ties to the team the Breadman was on over there.

No question they hit a home run with the kid. Imagine where this team would be with all of the cap casualties if they didn't have #72.

Another two points there for the taking this evening. Assume Craw back in net tonight. Any word on Panik? Another guy who'll get a shot on the first line while Stan continues to work the phones.

And hats off to Dale's boys with their 11th in a row last night.

I am wondering if Stan puts a claim in on Gormley. 23 years old, decent size, seems like a steadying presence on the back end with growing pains. Would he bring more than Scuderi on the bottom pair?

It's unfair to have one 88, looks like the Hawks may have two.
- Wagsman999

Fortunately Bickell and Rundblad come off the books after next year as Panarin's deal expires. So the Hawks will have that 5M to resign the "bread man".

If he keeps progressing though, his price tag could not be that much different from Tarasenco 7 million contract and then Hawks may not be able to afford him with all the Seabrook/Shaw/Kruger/Darling/TVR raises. And if we trade Crawford we need to pay way more for Darling and get another backup or get another goalie starter. Bickel and Runblad will not give enough cap to do all of it. Especially if Bick is bought out at the end of the year and cap savings are not as big as 4 mln.
