With the quality and depth the canucks have on d, they can easily fill the position internally. - RealityChecker
Clearly. Hamhuis's injury has added clarity to the situation. |

It's simple. You just text another GM or one of his buddies and say "Hey, we want these guys and we giving you this guy. Suck it!"
And then it's done. It happens all the time. - Marwood
Yes....that's exactly how trades work... |

Just answer the damn question. ....
Who is our will be available that is a better player that we can sign for 5 million? Upcoming Ufa or rfa?
Name names or admit defeat at the hand of a superior opponent!
Sh@t or get off the pot.
Are there Dman making less then e Edler who are better, yes.
Are there players that are worse making more. Yes - Pres.cup

I mean he changed the way we play. We STILL play the same way....nothing has changed. No coach has brought in a new system yet. That needs to change.
flawed offensive strategy....no defensive strategy....at least theres no dump and chase anymore - SMBDragon

Just out of curiosity, can you name a few players you would target to replace him.
I agree that he is inconsistent but on a team that has probably 3 legit everyday dmen, a lot of players are playing roles they shouldn't (same for forwards). The team rides edler and tanev as the 1st pairing in 22+ mins b/c there is no one else to turn to. Plug in another 2-5m dman and the same thing will happen. Until the d corps improves as a unit, individual players look worse than they are. And 5m for edler is not overpaid. Going rate.
Again, what specific player(s) would you target to play 22+mins? |

except that we've changed players so many times and had ones come from different teams... all w the same outcome. How many players have come and gone over the last say 6 years? They all start to suck after awhile using the same tendencies and play the same way
THAT right there comes from the top down
the core still plays in Avs old system. No coach has come in and changed that ineffective crud, outside of AVs dump and chase.
we still play on perimeter and slow it right down on entering the zone. Id praying someone someday teaches the sedins to carry it over the line straight dowen the middle and speed straight towards goaltender.... no they let everyone on opposition get settled and cozy 1st, which no other team does. extremely flawed....and its the reason offense dried up for quite awhile after AV came in....we had trouble scoring 1st year he was year and started his nonsense systems.
N now NYR have trouble scoring too. Guy never learns.
and hed rather give Glass top minutes then a scorer.... hmmm we have one of those here too still |

dont think he has a choice. Along with several other teams in the same boat. Cap is creating wayyy too much parity.
I remember nonis and gillis liked having some space....Nonis called it wiggle room |

Well you and I obviously disagree on his worth. I'd take almost anyone at half his wage that's played Atleast 100 games in the league and averaged Atleast 15 mins a night. Seriously do not care I'd take 6 averaged men over Edler slash little flyweight d men we have now. All I need from a d man is a good first pass and a really belligerent attitude on clearing the net .if they can bring a lil offense that's great |

Yes the riff raff third an fourth line have changed. But they aren't the straw that stirs the drink. The old core gets all the minutes, all the pp time still lose all the battles , to the heavy teams and sti got embarrassed by a pathetic peckerhead from the AHL named ferland ! The core is (frank)ed and it's rotten and needs to be purged . If you can't see that then nothing I say will change that. I tried to explain the best way I know how.

Remember, I am asking you, who specifically you would want brought in to play 1st pairing. |

Ooooohhh I got it. I understand that you believe that mister Alex Edler is worse then either Weber or Sbisa or biega or Bartkoski.
Do understand that if we are freeing up 5 million in cap space we need to use that 5 million in space or else there is no point.
If your point is that Edler should be waived then we are freeing up a roster spot. If so then it would need to be a trade or free agent signing to 'upgrade' edlers place in the lineup. So if the roster spot is to be filled externally then who is going to fill it. Remember that you have 5 million dollars to spare so go have a look at next year's UFA's and tell us who would be an upgrade over Alex freakin Edler! !!!!
If he is such garbage that you think he could be replaced internally then please refer to my list of 4 defenceman. Remember he needs to be worst then the of those players to not be on the nhl roster.
Wait a minute. .. I know what's happening, you may be a red wing fan trying to lower our asking price for a trade. .... how else can you explain the unexplainable, !!
Anyways I do understand your frustration with edlers play, but do try to remember that in today's NHL what Edler and Hamhuis are making is under the going rate for top 4 defenceman with their skill sets. If elder had become what we wanted him to be then his extension, when it was signed, would have been for 1-2 million more per year. |

In the 5 million dollar range? Hamonic, he would be worth more then he's being paid though so it would be Edler+prospect to get him, I'm not sold that he is better then Edler though(offensively add we already have a defencive top defenceman). |

C'mon man, how many times does he have to answer this? Any D man who makes half his salary and is established in the league and can make a first pass and provide offence and bring some grit to this sad sack collection of cream puffs. |

My plan wouldn't have any d men playing heavy mins I'd want the group to all be close to 20 mins a night. From the team right now....I'd dump Edler and weber and hamhuis (unless he signs for less then 2.5 a year. Probably trade Edler to a team like Detroit. They always seemed interested , target a guy like smith, get em to throw in a first. I'd try and make a Tanev for hamonic swap . End up with something like smith, hamonic, hamhuis , biega , pedan ,Bart and then grab an old vet like Willie to play 40 games or so. That's just off the top of my head. But yes nothing flashy , just stable defense first guys |

Yeah, you're right. Totally obvious.
BTW, Benning should pick up some top 6 forwards that are on cheap, are gifted offensively, and have a lot of sandpaper. I mean that sh!t is obvious . Why doesn't Benning see that? |

Are you trying to be an idiot? Re read again. I didn't say he was worse then the others, I think there all crap. I'd rather have 6 guys from the comets plus the cap relief and the draft picks then this six man group. Stop putting words in my mouth, read the (frank)ing post and understand it. Like talkin to a wall geesh. |

Well I commend you for at least throwing out some names.
Your d corps would definitely get a top draft pick
