Would you put it past Benning to make a trade for him though? He is a former Medicine Hat Tiger being coached by non other than Willie D back in 2010. Him and Hunter Shinkaruk destroyed teams in 2011 scoring a combined 130 goals, 198 points between just them two. He and Linden Vey were the top line in MH the year prior in 2010 when Willie was the Head Coach... I would not be surprised here if there is a trade, it could be with the Canucks given Benning/Willies past with MH players... - Codes1087
Could, sometimes a player is waived with a trade in mind if he clears as the other team wants him in the AHL but naturally is not willing to trade and waive. |

Gormley clears waivers - Retinalz
Terrible Asset Managment by Benning. He could have claimed him and traded him for Druin plus Corrado |

Meh, I'd be down if it was something like a swap for Jensen, but I'd rather he go into the AHL to see if he can reignite that chemistry, doubt he would clear though. |

I could see Willie putting in a word and benning trying. A guy that has chemistry with some of the nucks already couldnt hurt at all, depending on the price |

Lol. I think we should keep one of Edler/Hammer to help mentor youth. I would rather trade Edler and keep Hammer as Edler would return huge, we could easily get his replacement in a couple years + more.
Hammer-Tanev
Hutton-Sbisa would be a serviceable(albeit not that great) D core for 2 years until Younger dmen are ready to step in, and we get a few top 5 draft picks. - Retinalz
Sounds good |

My apologies. I misread. His actual is 6 for the next 2 years but his cap is 5. |

Not going back into this today....go back and read all the posts ...not just one. I never said anything about replacing Edler with two guys to be number ones for his money. I said Edler is bad and not worth his money, I'd happily take 6 league average paid dmen and play them all even minutes. No number 1 or number 4...just 6 d men just defending...defense isn't rocket science. - Bullfrog77
Actually, at the NHL level it is quite difficult. |

NO, he got burned for the Richards contract. - Retinalz
Not as bad as he was getting burned by richards contract while he was still in the lineup. |

No, but he spent to the ceiling before he got burned and is now getting cap penalties applied. |

The return for Edler should be huge but it doesn't always work out that way.
The return for Schnieder, Luongo and Kesler should of been huge as well and the predicted returns here were much higher than the actual.
If you can get a big haul for Edler than it is worth it but it is far from guaranteed.

The 9th overall pick for Schneider was huge. |

Butt is his replacement value that of a 2.5 million dollar player? That is the actual question.
On another topic. I'm in if there is a new league starts.

He's arguably the best goalie in Hockey, definitely top 5, and young.
We should have got more. |

I disagree, although I am very happy with Horvat, I think a young starting goalie who had put up elite numbers, albeit limited role was worth more than a mid first round pick.
Regardless the point I was making was prior to Schneider being moved, this board and many others were predicting a larger return. |

Should have, wasnt it reported Oilers offered more but didnt wanna trade in same division? We were screwed for cap space so a top ten pick cant complain about |

His replacement would be making 3.6 which is definitely not an over-payment because that player would hit. |
