I like the prospect of the trade, but not the fact that we would have to play Etem on the NHL roster......unless Higgins gets gone. - Whiskey-Tango
Jensen won't get this done I don't think. Throw Higgins in and retain 75 % of his salary might do it. |

torts never did squat. He was lazy....never ran a single practice and went home after the press talk to walk his dogs.
So no, torts never instituated anything here. All he did was say block more shots then leave - SMBDragon
And did they block more shots? |

Who else, this team has been brutal without him...... he is easily an upgrade over Edler, not to mention he is a first round pick. - belcherbd

50% is max you can retain, but Higgins would add negative value to the deal |

Annnnnnnnd, where are you getting these "facts"/insights/ information? - Whiskey-Tango
The rumor(i know just a rumor) of what Nonuts offered Gillis to send Lu to Toronto. We all know Lu handcuffed the trade to florida and kesler handcuffed it to anaheim. Hard to get a good return when you have 1 option. |

In other news. Rumblings of a possible Jensen for Etem are ciculating on twitter. Two players who desperately need a wake up call. - Codes1087

You always a douche? Higgins is crap...but vignault loved him and loves vets, it's a lateral move either way, he's not willing to play etem, he won't play Jensen...but he probably would play Higgins based on their history together. Doesn't hurt that Higgins is a New York boy either. |

The other rumor was that it was in fact Lou himself that nixed the trade.
Who could blame him. |

Tanev upped his shot blocking under Torts, if there are some positives from him being here there are even more now that he is gone.
Funny how a coach who talks about the team coming first, is such an apparent diva, or needs time to get away with his dogs or he starts losing it? - hillbillydeluxe
ya no kidding. Thats cause torts is full of crap |

That would be sweet, but I can't see Jensen ( who has been playing okay this year in Utica) being worth Etem.
I think we would have to give up Gaunce, who personally I think would be a mistake considering waiver eligibility. - belcherbd
AV loves Burrows. How about Burr + Jensen for Etem and Stalberg and we retain 1/2 till end of this contract. |

It does hurt that New-York has already experimented with Higgins, it lasted 55 games |

So you don't agree...leave it at that...you love Edler...good for you, I see his ultimate value to this team best served being moved. We do t agree...fine. I'm trying to be respectful and argue my point...you're just being an ass. |

Yeah and torts said they regretted it. He was a dependable player for us but didn't meet the expectations for scoring. Things would be diffrent now no? They wouldn't need him to score ( thank god cause he can't )just play good defense, which he also can't but maybe New York hasn't been paying attention to that |

To put this simply, when the board was discussing those player's worth, it was higher than what was received, Edler is not worth moving at a discount and then coming up with excuses why he is a addition by subtraction.
Horvat will need to become our most important player for him to be every bit as impactful as Schneider. Possible but not likely IMO. Again Sorry Vantel et al for you cornflakes. - belcherbd
Fair points but again Edler isn't handcuffing MNGT for years or demanding trades...makes a lot of difference. When the boards were discussing Lou and Kes's worth they were overvalued...because of the circumstances Van was NEVER going to get what many thought was fair value for them. But we did good in the end IMO.
Horvat is on his way to becoming that guy. Will most likely have the C in a few years and will be one of the top 3 impactful players on the club. I can see Horvat a Selke candidate every bit as much as Schneider could be a Vezina candidate. The trade was fair value at the time a very good backup for a top ten pick.
I still believe that Edler would net solid return as he is a pretty consistent point getter and teams in the East are always looking at him. |
