Blues management isn't dumb enough to give up Shatty for an unproven cry baby like Drouin |

Guys that hype and take older players as high draft picks usually get burned. Yakupov was an average of 6 months older than most of the kids taken in his draft. The Flyers got Couturier after he dropped when people began looking at his birth date.
This is important to this year. Austin Matthews may be the oldest projected 1st overall pick ever taken in the modern draft. But, I believe sanity will prevail and he sinks and the two Finns move ahead of him by draft day. |

No way it's Buch. Wouldn't trade him straight up for Drouin. Probably Graves. - NateB19
Graves is a d man. Eklund said it was Yandle+Strong F prospect . Had to have been Gropp or Buch. |

well, there is alot going on around this thread.... in regards to the lightning.
Hedman:
well, he is not going anywheres as realistically unless Keith, Subban, Karlsson, Byfuglien, Burns, Doughty are coming back, which they are not, any top flight dman is a move sideways really. So he is staying put IMO, and I would be fine that... Hedman is really starting to come into his own I think.
Stamkos:
A tough one for Yzerman, however.... What does Stamkos do when he doesnt score? (and sorry folks, but goal scorers will have droughts all of them do). .. will he kill penalties? take a big faceoff? if you want 10-11 bucks per season, I think Yzerman believes he has to really ensure that if they are going to give this to him, it will handcuff him in other areas or have him sitting the bench at major times. Remember Yzerman grew up in a system as a player, and learned the ropes from an organization that no one made more money than their best player -- and that same Wings culture instilled a 200 foot game. He has a tough decision to make here but it will be interesting to see what happens.
Drouin:
Another tough situation for Yzerman, but clearly the kid wants out so he has handcuffed Yzerman. At the moment, I feel that Yzerman is looking for 3rd Overall Pick prices... as he should. You can use his play, demotions etc in it for what Drouin is now, however I believe Yzerman sees a 1st round, top 3 pick so you will have to pay the same going rate for that...

I find it uncanny that I can disagree with so many points in this data dump. It's like this was written by Margot Kidder |

He has done a good job but he believes that every deal he makes he dictates the return. I know he holds the cards with Drouin but I mean the return sounds ridiculous. I respect Yzerman a whole lot, same thing with Stamkos, they want a mega return for him too? If so why are TBL fans laughing at a Yandle return? If they keep Stamkos they're obviously trying one more shot at a cup, how would Yandle at 2.6 cap hit be laughable for Drouin. Yandle+ 1stRD isn't enough? Why can't they bring Yandle back anyway? Figure he gets 6 million fine. You're letting Stammer go after all and you have enough Young forwards to have like four in the bottom six. - Anthony5967
Because Yandle is a pending UFA. The cap hit of $2.6 is meaningless b/c we don't need cap space for this year. It is next year and/or the following when the cap becomes the issue and the next Yandle contract will be far from $2.6M.

And you would think something like this would cause a team distraction, I mean the team is struggling too. They have the Stamkos drama and now this with a 20 year old. Sounds to me like they buried him down in the AHL to keep him and his drama away from the team. - Anthony5967
Playing Time
Another young player (Marchessault) earned a spot with his play while Drouin was hurt. Marchy is not waiver eligible, Drouin is. It is purely from a roster/asset management perspective that he was sent to Cuse. In Tampa he would be serving popcorn (for the time being) on game days. In Cuse he plays.

Yak for Drouin being involved in a blockbuster package?
Tampa needs a shake up which makes this more interesting. Hedman could be in Oiler silks.... Send this years 1st to Tampa... Add in Fayne and Schultz or Sekera instead...
Drouin-McDavid-Pouliot (Shift Pouliot to the Right Wing) Seems pretty good.
Not to mention adding in a Hedman will make our Defense more stable.
Still wouldn't do it though.
Yak and McDavid really clicked during that 13 games stretch and at this rate, Schultz has negative value. However, with what is going on in Tampa, it looks like either Stamkos or Drouin will be gone by seasons end... - EdmHockeyMan
Hedman isn't going anywhere, (esp if Stamkos leaves), and he sure as (frank) aint going for that offer

he's been good; but not perfect.
i think whatever happens with drouin/stamkos/hedman will define his legacy.
the one odd thing - and it's nit picky. I'm curious if there is a reason as to why they didn't move ohlund off the books like philly did with pronger and boston did with savard.
Having the cap space is marginally better than getting the relief through LTIR.

Just read a post online saying that a transaction is in place for Emerson Etem for later today. Whether that is a AHL conditioning stint or trade they don't know. He was held off practice this morning. |

Didn't say he's been perfect (see Carle, Matt).
Haven't needed to move Ohlund thus we didn't offer an asset to anyone to do this. Both Philly and Boston made their moves b/c they were in cap hell.

As Steven Stamkos pointed out in an interview recently, it might well be that Drouin stays with Tampa Bay for a long time--after he gets his game in order. The Lightning don't have anything to lose by holding onto Drouin's entry-level contract, at least until he gets his chops up after the long layoff due to injury. |
