it will be interesting to see how he does now that he will get some consistent ice time and a confidence boost with the trade. I always wanted him to succeed here, just thought it was over for him.

I'm more concerned with the direction of our own team. We picked up Jordan Weal and drafted Travis Konecny. The Flyers have been pretty open about wanting to be a fast skating, high tempo, discipline team. The young forwards we've acquiring are all small. I'm deeply worried about playing like Habs or the Sabers when they were good. I get the 70's are over but I much rather be LA, the Ducks or Bruins. I mean, we're the Philadelphia Flyers and we play a certain brand of hockey. I'm not ignoring that Morin, Sanheim and Provorov have size. I'm just concerned with future of the forwards going up against bigger teams. I think we're pretty soft now, especially with losing Luke Schenn. I have some concerns with what tomorrow brings.

I do agree that you can be too small...it's a legitimate concern

MJL has assured me that he will retire mere minutes after LA's season is over.

Something I hadn't thought about, but even if he retires, I think he is still owed the signing bonus, which would count against the cap.

I'd 100% agree with the fact that the team needs to get bigger.

Its also important to realise that a skilled player, doesnt have to equal a small player. Something for the organization to consider for sure moving forward.

That's about a stereotype. In today's NHL, size is not as important. If you can play, you can play. There's too many small quality players in the league to doubt that.

If they'd get bigger, then they would need to get faster, and on and on. They just need to get good. Big, small, or somewhere in the middle.

Everything is important.

I would agree with his thoughts that the team needs to consider size moving forward. Size does matter.

Size is relative now. In today's NHL, 6'1" 190-200 lbs is big.

exactly....look at how teams like LA, Washington are built...Big, fast and skilled. That's what makes a team like Florida intriguing ...emulating that... and are starting to have success. The days of just size are gone but its still an important component.

Sooo your Sharks are 27th in the league with an old ass team, a sad prospect group and the worst part is that Boston owns their 1st rounder this year.

Who on the Flyers is small or plays small? Key players here, not Gagner. Key prospects. The entire top 6 right now is comprised of players that love physicality. Simmonds, Voracek, Raffl, Couturier, Schenn, Giroux. Yes, Giroux is a physical player -- he thrives off it. He is not weak by any stretch.

So maybe our future defense? The 6'7" Morin...6'1" Provorov...6'4" Sanheim...6'5" Myers....6'2" Hagg...6'3" Alt....

So what if the Flyers have a few smaller forwards in the pipeline. Konecny plays bigger than Sanheim. Just because you're small doesn't make you weak. Just because you're big doesn't make you a hit-throwing, crash-the-net monster. On any elite team there's room for both 5'10" players and 6'4" players. Let's all magically pretend the Bruins don't employ smallish players like Pasternak and Krug and Marchand. Let's conveniently ignore half the rosters of the two teams that made the Cup finals last year. Holy smokes. Size isn't nearly as important as playing big. And playing big without skill means you have a bottom feeder team. Flyers are targeting both things.

Some sources report a bruise or sprain. Nothing major.

Some sources report he is being read his last rights with his family by his side.

I think Sean Couturier plays small at times. Affective at his role but not always willing to get his nose dirty. Just my opinion but I also watch other hockey teams. I take notice that some teams and some players are just better, bigger and more physical...oh and it works for them.

These two teams also have elite players. I also don't consider them small. To me Montreal is small. I mean I don't have all the info infront of me because I'm not neurotic to the point that everytime someone criticizes my team, I cry. I'm just saying we uses to be a lot more physical and I'm looking at the young forwards we've drafted or aquired in the last little while.

Stay with me buddy.
