I think it can be summarized as a lacking of defensive effort (young kid after all, questions about conditioning) and playing on garbage possession teams in poor systems. Looked it up and, fwiw, his possession relative numbers have been in the positive the last few seasons -- ok-good numbers not great. Like many offensive young stars, his two way effort needs work. But not bad considering. I guarantee they will go up on NSH, and Jones' will go down on CLB. Not a tough guarantee, pretty much to be expected really. Torts is going to have Jones block SO many shots. He's going to love it. Meanwhile Johansen will have more opportunity to have the puck than ever before. Oh, Seth, I'm so so sorry. Future Girardi.
