Lehner picking up right where he left off in the preseason. 4 GA in 2 periods.

Kane is so frustrating. Might actually be a 40 goal scorer if he could shoot.

To be fair, a lot of players who are playing well now were awful in the preseason. As stated already, it's his first start in a while on an awful AHL team.

Really? Haven't watched but looks like they've played alright so far. That was a pretty nice passing play on the goal.

That's for people that don't workout I'm not trying to be that guy. But what's so hard about running and exercising I don't get it

Wait 10 years.

Edit: And that's not true. My sister's husband's dad is about 5'5" tall and weighs about 140 lbs and has high cholesterol.

We're playing alright, but then when you see a goal like that from Chicago it really puts it in perspective how far away we are from being great.

Really?!? Thats awesome. Nashville deserves good things. After all that radulov nonesense. They have been making tons of good moves the last few years. Only fitting that things start going their way.

I'm a fan of Johansen, I want to see him play well. Especially after the way Columbus kicked him to the curb.

What was particularly exciting was watching the Blackhawks pass it back and forth between the defensemen for roughly 30 seconds at one point.

The league focus on possession worries me that it's going to become more and more like that.

I think it just looks that way because of the dead weight. I didn't think they'd be any good this year but I also don't think it's representative of how close/far they are.

Need to make things bigger. Ice,maybe not to the extent of Europe because that's been shown to not increase scoring, but just take out one row of seats, and the nets, just give it 2" wider and 1" taller. And for all those "traditionalists" the NHL tinkers with rules more than any of the other North American pro sports combined. They've moved the goal line twice in the past 15 years, moved the blue line, they've also made it wider, taken out the two line pass, the trapezoid, the 3 point game, the shootout, the dimensions of the bottom/back of the net, the foot in the crease, the stupid new face-off rule where the "defending" player puts his stick down first, the other stupid newish face-off rule where you get a penalty if you're the second guy on your team tossed on the same face-off, and on and on...

The Hawks broadcast were positively gushing over the Sabres in the intermission. Hjalmarsson said "They're a good team". When in the past 2 years did you ever hear that from the opposing team?

Yeah teams seem less and less willing to initiate the play and are more about reacting to it.

The trouble is, a lot of that dead weight isn't going away anytime soon. Lol

Time for Timmy to show his creative side. Toughest one will be Moulson, the others i think are manageable.

Well even Kane and Bogosian can be filed more in the dead weight category so far into their Sabres careers. I think they can both be complimentary pieces to a better team as our core improves though.

That's the difference, Kane and Bogo can and most likely will get better. Guys like Moulson, Gionta, Gorges on the other hand will eventually (if not already) be unable to keep up.

I have no problem with Gorges (yet) but Gio and Moulson are the biggest issues.
