I have no problem with Gorges (yet) but Gio and Moulson are the biggest issues. - chilliard77
Neither do I but given his style of play, age and cap hit it might be worth looking into replacements.

Did Moulson really take Girgensons spot on Eichel's line? |

Wait 10 years.
Edit: And that's not true. My sister's husband's dad is about 5'5" tall and weighs about 140 lbs and has high cholesterol. - Wetbandit1

I agree, but given the current state of the blueline I think he has more value to the Sabres than in any trade. |

Well even Kane and Bogosian can be filed more in the dead weight category so far into their Sabres careers. I think they can both be complimentary pieces to a better team as our core improves though. - chilliard77
Kane's the type of guy that can use his size behind the net and along the walls to set plays up, the only problem is when you're trying to set a play up for guys like gionta and moulson (or whoever Bylsma decides to switch on a daily basis) that's never going to happen. He's not being used properly I feel.
If we don't decide on solid lines and keep them, guys like Kane are going to try and do more than they need to and try to make plays themselves, which will lead to disappointing results. |

This team just can not score goals.
Instead of blaming the GM and the coach, is there any a time that we can just blame the players for not being better? |

Got my vote. I mentioned the other day and someone else weeks ago. This team needs a shooting coach. |

Lack of talent is to be sure, but a lot can be attributed to coaching. We have a lot of talent, but it looks disappointing because it's not being used adequately, in my opinion.
Never been a fan of Bylsma. I wasn't happy with the singing and I'll gladly eat my words should he have success, but I've just never been a fan. Came into a completely built pens team, loaded with talent and hungry halfway through the season and won the cup, but then had consecutive disappointing seasons. Sure there were injuries, but he had more than enough talent to work with. (Rya Shero didn't help)
His style is so vanilla: Dump into the zone and hope to set a play up. That works if you have a team that fires on all cylinders however, but this is not the team to do that. You can't get rebounds and centering passes if no one attacks the net.
His work with team usa in the Olympics was alarming as they looked more a junior team playing against the big boys.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, given the talent, youth and obviously being his first year, but he can start by keep a set line for more than two games and trying to add some intensity in the mix. A coach like Quenneville is energetic and passionate. When someone makes a mistake or needs to do a better job, he's there and voices his opinion. Bylsma on the other hand is just go with the flow and relaxed. He post game interviews are emotionless and seem almost scripted. I'm not saying I want him to be a jerk, but I'd like to see some energy.
That being said, I do think he has a good hockey mind and knows the game, but much like football, sometimes guys are meant to be career coordinators or assistants. They are experts at their field (defensive or offensive coordinator) but just not the head of a team. I think Bylsma might serve better using his hockey IQ to assist rather than lead |

Yeah, I've been one of the ones saying it. A bunch of others too.
I remember, the first year after the '03 lockout I think it was, the Sabres brought Gilbert Perrault in to teach the guys how to shoot, and it worked. Whether it was the fact that maybe it was the first time in a while they had actually did any shooting drills, maybe it was just the kick in the ass they needed by Ruff going public with it. Either way the results spoke for themselves. |

Could be. I know it was a while ago. It wasn't the second year after because they couldn't not score that year, so it had to be the year after when they were playing well, but not setting the world on fire and then they started about midway through that season playing lights out. If only we had an NHL defense against Carolina it would've been us and not them with the Cup that year. (frank)ing Rory Fitzpatrick and Nathan Paetsch. |
