I like Gormley a lot, hes a good reliable bottom pairing guy, but is he worth burning a contract on if the sabres are close to the 50 max...(dont know where you guys stand) - DDM-Coga
I really know very little about gormley, but I do know that they have eight defensemen with the big club right now...there's one top-pair, four top-four, two bottom-pair and one reserve...that's enough for me[/img] |

Wow, another great decision by Murray!
Also, I like our coach a lot. He finally figured out that there was nothing wrong with the Risto/Gorges line so he decides to tinker some more with the line pairings, and change up on of the few things that has been working for this team. You know what they say. If it ain't broke, that's because Bylsma hasn't started messing with it yet. - SabresPanacea
I disagree. While Gorges hasn't been a total mess, I think there are better options for Risto. I'd like to see what him and McCabe can do together, or Pysyk when he gets back from Rochester. |

In all reality, this is probably the best thing to happen to him. Getting the AHL time instead of being bounced around in the NHL will help get his game to where it needs to be more. Nothing wrong with that. - HonkFortheGoose
He was stuck in the minors while with the Coyotes and pretty much plateaued. |

Going into the season he was looking at being Barries short term partner, but suprising Nick Holden has bounced back and looked very respectable. He has the contract invested in him already so they will play him over Gormley.
Now the Rampage get some pairings of Zads/Siemens Bigras/Gormley. Fun times for them |

I like this option better, goosie...as you pointed out a while ago he's played that off side and played it well...and, as you also pointed out, I think this team could use him

Some guys need a bit more time. That said, he could end up not progressing as well. But at least he's being given the chance to continue to develop instead of just being bounced around from NHL team to NHL team. |

I agree. I've been beating the Pysyk/Risto pairing drum for quite awhile now. I think the fact that Pysyk's skating is far superior to Gorges will allow him to play those bigger minutes much more easily. They need him back in the lineup badly. Our transition game has been awful, especially during this losing streak. |

Somebody in the locker room, not Bylsma, needs to grab this team by the reins and get them to start playing the same hockey they were late in November and early December.
They have the ability to play well together, and have.
Lately, they seem to be a far to resigned to accepting losses. This has to change. ROR has been the one to say it, earlier. I suspect Gionta is great, as a character guy, but the fiery competitiveness tends to dim abit after 35. |

thx...simply stating what the sabres are up against while also stating that they're in that "cocoon-phase" at this stage of the game |

if Murray does not make the myers, ror and ottawa trade, I am not sure the product on the ice would be any worse than what it is today |

If he doesn't do that trade do we still end up last? Or does a meaningless rebound goal by stafford assisted by myers put us in 2nd last? It got awfully close at one point last year. |

All good. Your analysis on the team from time to time is refreshing . I'm ok with where they are this season. (didn't expect them to be 29th) If we see the same next year I will be a bit pissed . They still are way better too watch . |

Nope. Sure doesn't. They can't seem to get through the neutral zone and god forbid they actually manage to get set up in the offensive zone and apply pressure for more than 10 seconds at a time. |
