Kane's the type of guy that can use his size behind the net and along the walls to set plays up, the only problem is when you're trying to set a play up for guys like gionta and moulson (or whoever Bylsma decides to switch on a daily basis) that's never going to happen. He's not being used properly I feel.
If we don't decide on solid lines and keep them, guys like Kane are going to try and do more than they need to and try to make plays themselves, which will lead to disappointing results. - bberkey1
Jets fan here (and no I'm not here to discuss who "won" the trade or anything like that, will take 5 years to evaluate properly).
But on Kane, my observation when he was with the Jets was he does not position himself to maximize his physical strength and skills. Because he is so fast, he is usually the first in on the forecheck. He can usually outmuscle the defender and more often than not come out with the puck. Unfortunately he is not a gifted playmaker, so I noticed he would make a lot of blind passes or just throw it to the net from wherever.
I feel if Kane is to maximize his potential, he needs to be the sniper in the high slot and paired with a good playmaker. How a player with his shot can so rarely be in a good scoring position is a mystery. He needs to be the Brett Hull to someone's Adam Oates. Or banging away as a crease crasher. He is so strong and has decent finish that he could do a lot of damage from there in my opinion.
Anyhow, good luck Sabres fans, my team isn't doing much better.

His biggest issue is being a horribly dumb hockey player. He gives away as many offensive chances as he creates.
Even Darcy got a 1st for Gaustad. Murray is a drunk. When I was putting together and working on the Canalside project, I would go into that one restaurant by the Naval yard and find Murray in there often with a few of his buds and he always had a beer in front of him around noonish. - Pluviophile
So a guy likes to have a beer with lunch with friends is now a drunk? If he was a drunk you'd never know it. Most drunks don't drink in front of people because they're ashamed of themselves, but at the same time they can't stop so they drink alone, or if they're with people they sneak off to drink from hidden stashes.
We get it, you dislike the moves the guy has made. That's not a reason to attack him personally.
I also challenge you to find one single post where someone said they thought he's done nothing wrong.

I've had plenty of business lunches with a beer, I'm not a drunk.
People, if you have something you feel the need to say about someone, either say it or shut the f up. With all respect, this "If you only knew the stuff I know but cannot ever ever say" crap is incredibly weak sauce.
I like the pieces that will be our core. I figured we wouldnt make the playoffs but would never guess we would be a celler dweller again. Alot of that has to do with ennis, moulson and girgenson not reaching anywhere near where we estimated them to be at. What was ur expectations this season? - joshs
I'm not singling you out, just that you wrote that and it's convenient to quote. Most of the media had the Sabres at the bottom again this year. I don't think any had them in the playoffs.
"The Sabres were 45 points out of a playoff spot last season. They can’t make that up in a season. Pick them as the NHL’s most improved team, but still seventh in the Atlantic." - Kevin Allen, USA Today
"Prediction--74 points, seventh in the Atlantic." - Allan Muir, SI.com
"Prediction--'They’ll miss the playoffs but make significant strides towards turning things around.' " - Jen Neale, Yahoo's Puck Daddy
"Prediction--eighth in the Atlantic Division." - Joe McDonald, ESPN.com
"The Sabres added about five wins of talent to the roster this season which is the most of any team," writes THN in their outlook. "It’s a huge injection of skill, but what it really shows is just how terrible Buffalo was last season. Take five wins off their current projection and you get a true-talent 69 point team. Most teams fall within the 80-to-100 point range, so a number below 70 is shockingly low. That’s the hill Buffalo has to climb to get out of the NHL’s basement and while this season is a good start, there’s a lot of mountain left for them." - The Hockey News
TSN's Frank Servalli's "bold prediction" for the Sabres: Eichel will beat out Edmonton wunderkind Connor McDavid for the Calder Trophy. "He will feed three-time 30-goal scorer Matt Moulson and push the Sabres go the brink of the playoffs." New players "will account for a 35-point turnaround, but the Sabres will fall short of the playoffs."
Those are all predictions on where the Sabres finish the season, not where they'd be halfway through with a major injury to the starting goalie and 87 new players and a new coach and system. I figured we'd be about where we are now until about the all-star break and then start coming together and my "pie in the sky" best case was that they would go on an Ottawa type run and challenge for a playoff spot. Worst case, we're improved but still in 30th, but I think we'll be somewhere in between. I think we'll finish ahead of Carolina, Toronto, Columbus and Edmonton.
