Jensens always been cast in a bottom six role in the AHL, Etem hasn't, it's more than just numbers for me though. Size, speed, learning to fit that into an NHL role, I just don't see a huge upgrade and I'm mad about the pick - LeftCoaster
We were going to let Jensen walk to Europe soon, so basically a 6th for a possible 4th/3rd liner...good deal to me. |

I don't understand this trade...two players of equal value and Benning, yet again, throwing away picks in a trade. The guys a (frank)in moron! - LeftCoaster

I think Ferraro was bang on and he wasn't criticizing Virtanen but pointing out that people's expectations are likely too high if they are expecting a consistent top 6 scorer. He said he didn't think he had the hockey IQ to do that but expected him to be a very good bottom 6 guy who can chip in , in a variety of ways.
Brouwer, Ward, Hansen, Clowe, etc are all more realistic expectations than Perry, Bertuzzi that people throw around. - belcherbd
Time will tell. I see more Lucic than anything, If he can figure it out. |

So not like Hansen then. |

I don't see a huge upgrade either, but a late round pick upgrade. |

You think WD gives Baer Bo Etem a look? If Hansen is out for a longer period of time,

I like Jensen, I don't think their numbers are too far off each other. i don't know, I think this is a low risk but low reward type deal and he's giving away picks again, not crazy about it...sorry. - LeftCoaster
Can you show us that chart again that shows the % of players who play more than 100 NHL games per round. I can't remember if the 6th round is 2 or 3%? |

Jake can't fight, therein lies the big difference, Lucic gets a lot of room because of it. |

Jensen's an RFA at year end so I'm assuming Benning had no intentions of re-signing him...I feel better now, only a little though |

You are hilarious. Jensen had next to no value and wouldn't secure Etem. He isn't "throwing" away pics for (frank)sakes. Look at it another way, 2 6th round pics for a guy playing in the NHL now with more upside. Jensens time with the Canucks was finished. Etem would be easily the best player on the Comets if was playing down there and Jensen can barely produce. |

Etem - marginal NHLer who could become a 3rd liner
Jensen - a guy who is barely cutting it on the AHL team
6th rounder - gives them a chance to have something
I don't like Benning either, but this is the kind buy low trading he should be doing. - Lindenis#1
I think it's fair to say that Jensen will never turn into the top 6 player the canucks hoped he would be when they drafted him and the current regime doesn't have a roster spot for him. No real loss there. The fact that the return was Etem instead of a draft pick means this season becomes a trial to see if he fits the plan long term (ala Baertschi last sesaon).
Even if he doesn't work out, they can qualify Etem as RFA and give him Jensen's roster spot in Utica, or trade him for a pick, because I figured that's all Jensen would be worth anyways.
So it's a no-lose trade, really. Odds are incredibly unlikely Jensen turns into Patrick Sharp (see Philadelphia 2005), but Jensen would never get the chance to become that guy in this organization.
Good luck Nick, may NY be better for you than you were to Vancouver. |

The Canucks should trade it back to Jackets with like Kenins or Weber for Rychel or some other asset the Jackets feel like selling low on - Lindenis#1
Not a horrible idea. But even if they don't give us this years pick it will still be real close to a first next year. |

I think if either makes it, if ever, they'd both be bottom six players, if Etem has upside it's marginal.
The fact he's in the NHL is meaningless, situational, Jensen had an extended look at one point too. |
