what do you think of the suggestion of

Higgins + vrbatta + Columbus 2nd rd pick returned

to columbus for

their 2016 1st rd pick

I doubt if its enough for a 1st. Figure the 2nd rd pick is a good building block though. I like the idea of taking the 2nd and turning it into a 1st via trade.

might need to be more like higgins + prospect (subban?) +2nd

subban is a gillis pick....so we may as well assume that wont turn out anyway

- SMBDragon
why wouldn't they want our junk and a second rounder for the first overall pick?

Well sorry ...just tryin to catch up been gone a few hours. Your post just made zero sense. Trade Columbus's second with pArt a b and c for Columbus's first? They are in last place! There not giving us Auston Matthews for Higgins Vrbata subban and the best part they drop 31 spots right out of the first round? Who wouldn't want to sign up for that?

You said trade Columbus's 2nd for Columbus's first. They are currently in the first overall spot atm. Maybe you type o ...dunno yes it would be nice if they give us this pick and somehow we trade up into the first with it....but wouldn't count on it. Vrbata will be gone at the deadline either way.

That 1st round pick will be top 5.

Vrbata might get you a 1st, but it's likely to be in the 25-30 range. Even for that to happen, you need the perfect storm.

He will be rested tho so he might actually do good, and if Markstrom gets more games and Miller rests more well have good goaltending
Good thing for our defense to help that.

Edit- looking at the standings now, even with good goaltending i doubt well make the playoffs even if we try. San Jose, Anaheim, and Calgary will be fighting for those two spots behind La. (Arizona will eventually come back to reality) And the wildcard spots wont even be an option for this division

Yeah I just had a look at the standings...23rd overall now and hopefully 27th-28th by end of tonight.

Honestly I was ok with the Miller signing but really he is good for 3-4 goals per game now...I'm really hoping WD gets Markstrom more time but for the tank we need Miller in so that's ok.

Calgary and ANA should make a push not so sure on San Jose just yet. ARZ will fall out of it soon. Not sure EDM is up to trade wise but Chiarelli may want to get going there...tough to make deals though.

But realistically if the kids are progressing and we win a few that's good as well. Looking for Bo to continue strong tonight and a few others but a regulation loss certainly won't hurt us.

Hypothetically speaking, if the lineup is like

Twins-Hansen
Baertschi-McDavid-Vrbata
Higgins-Horvat-Burrows
Prust-Cracknell-Dorsett

Edler-Tanev
Hamhuis-Ekblad
Bart/Sbisa-Weber

You're competing with LA at that point and you're a bottom pairing Dman and a top nine winger away from being a real threat. (I left out Sutter because that trade wouldn't have likely happened if you drafted McDavid)

I guess the "issue" is that tanking/rebuilding now for 2-3 years doesn't give you any secondary Sedin's to fall back on the way it would have the last 2 years

- Lindenis#1

This would be Bonino if we didn't trade for Sutter.

Exactly but San Jose has 3 games in hand and 2 points back, i know they gotta win those games, im really hoping they are for two solid reasons.

1-Help up get to the bottom
2- Not give those f'n bruins a top pick

Leafs did last year technically because 61 was considered a 2nd last year for some reason... if that counts. Is etem going to be on the Nucks or AHL?

Nucks for sure, waiver eligible. But I would think(hope) that with NYR putting him on conditioning stint prior to the trade means that we can give him that stint first.

I want Spencer Watson off of LA, drafted round 7 in 2014, then sign his twin whos undrafted and a RHD, they probs wouldnt make the roster ever, but it would be cool to have another set of twins in the system

Just noting you highlighted Higgins. Bonino would be in Cracknells spur not Higgins spot.
It would be an even stronger roster!

Awwww come on man, I get not liking miller but his GAA is not going to be around 3.5 at the end of the year, it will end up being 2.85 or thereabouts.
Unless we trade Edler and bring in 2 physical defenceman who have speed and can contribute offensively while playing a safe defencive game for 2.5 million per.

Doubt it, Bonino isn't suited for 4th line play, he would likely go to Bo's wing in this scenerio.
