I have to wonder what the consensus around here would be if Stamkos was pursued by Benning? Is it viable at this time to take on another Albatross contract (Lou) or just move forward with cap managementand drafting/developing? I understand the impact a Stamkos brings but...

Would be an interesting conversation to say the least.

I want to take the approach of draft and develop, except for signing Lucic for toughness if LA doesnt. But signing Stamkos i wouldnt complain about, with Sedins contracts up in 2 years and Millers 6 mill off the books after next season, why not have it spent in Stamkos, hes an elite player and its not like McCann/Horvat/Baertchi/Virtanen will be asking 6+ mill before the sedins are gone

Just watching leafs Sharks highlights again. I love how sportsnet central is on over and over so if you wanted, you could watch these highlights all morning.

We don't have the assets to make a play for Stamkos via trade. If we got him, all the good Benning has done to replenish the prospect cupboards plus most of our draft picks would be gone to get him. Not to mention Stamkos wouldn't necessarily make us that much better. He'd definitely be a replacement for Henrik, but we'd lose (at the very least) Bo, McCann, Jake and have to start over and would Stamkos even sign an extension to play here anyways for the rest of his career?
