Re: Higgens pres release.
Seems like they are doing a solid for him, trying to make it known that they are doing everything they can to move him, before waiving/putting him on waivers.

From all accounts, he seems like a solid guy, who needs a change of scenery. (hopefully he doesn't mind Utica).

We will see it. He has already shown that all the $hit talk about him during the WJC and not being an NHL worthy player is silly. Jake is goiong to be soild. He just needs the guidance and consistency at an NHL level.

Are you not a fan?

I just have a good feeling about him. I think set him up with fast wingers and it will be a decent line

I want the best for him and hope he does develop better defensively but I am not seeing him as you are.

He should not have been on the team this year
- VANTEL

I'm just happy the TL and JB addressed the elephant in the room. They are going to be giving his minutes to younger players and are not afraid to cut bait.

Hopefully the trend continues up until Feb 29th

If it was Higgins at $1.25m for one more year would he be an upgrade in the bottom 6 for the Rangers? That's got to be worth a 6th round pick that isn't even yours...

are you saying we eat salary? I'm all for it if it helps facilitate a move. Just don't think there is much interest.

I usually like how the elements can be a factor in a football game, but this is ridiculous, borderline unwatchable.
- CubanBuffet

Agreed and yes...it's awful. Hopefully adjustments are made at the half.

It sucks when this happens to solid guys but its the NHL and jobs are usually lost a lot faster than this. He has had a long leash to improve or pick up his game and it has not. Other than the penalty kill guys are passing him on the depth chart and have been for a while. Stale is the best word. I think he could help a team like NYI.

Half time...

Yes I want to see Willie acknowledge what I'm seeing, in a nutshell. I don't know if it's "likely" they'll receive more icetime, but I'm hopeful.

- LeftCoaster

I believe you will see it. The team is in the thick of the playoff race, which is what they said they were shooting for, even though they have been decimated by injuries. Etem in and Higgins is another youth movement. Jake and Jared staying says youth is a focus to me. I guess we'll see.

This is how I see next year's lineup at forwards . Lots of speed once we get by the first line. I also predict the twins get traded next TDL

Even Carolina or Arizona could use him bottom 6 and really there not tight on cap, whats a 6th round pick

Yes, retain salary to move him to another NHL club, not to the AHL. The cap hit would be the same, and the total $ spent would also be the same. So get a *late* pick and show him the respect of finding him an NHL team to contribute to.

Why use a pick if it sounds like the club is going to waive?

Torts loves Higgins...why not CLB? And make it part of the deal where we pick in the 2nd rd THIS year and not next year.

Not a huge fan of the tank. I feel it creates a losing atmosphere. If we get a top 5 pick because the team is not good then fine, but I really want to see the team play well. Especially the young guys.

He's not even doing much on the penalty kill. It sucks but it happens to every player eventually.

I think Benning tried and there were no takers. The press release was just management trying to create some good PR before putting a vet on waivers.

To get Benning to eat salary. And looking at Bennings trade history they can probably squeeze a pick out of Van as well.
