Cole has been much better lately with Daley.

2 GA over his last 8 games. 9 GA in the 8 games before that.

He's never going to be much offensively, but with Daley he doesn't need to be.

I would really like to find someone they can slot with Doums. I really don't like Lovejoy or Cole with him. Going to keep 3 and 58 together, I think they have been playing much better together. I still think by the end of the year, DP will be up and in the top 6, or he will be part of a trade. I think we have almost gotten to the point with him where its going to be soon or never with this franchise. Hopefully they learned from SD situation.

Ovechkin 5th fastest to 500 goals.

Dead puck era, league won't let superstars be superstars, league catering to 3rd liners, etc.

I was going to say the same thing. Daley has stabilized the D and Cole has been better.

How about that. Trevor (frank)ing Daley was at the end of the day all we actually needed on our blue line. I had the lowest of expectations for him. In fact, I wanted to flip him again as soon as we traded for him but he's actually doing a lot of good. Consider myself surprised.

Now, if Perron and Kunitz could just hit the f'ing net...

I'm really starting to believe Perron and Kuni are all that stands between missing the playoffs or stacking wins. Sid is playing great but his wings couldn't score on a cheap hooker.

Still doesn't make him worth his contract . . . They have depth that could probably step in and play with Daley (to only give up minimal goals and contribute nothing offensively). I say move him if at all possible, for a late pick.

I wonder if Clendening is any good. He can't crack the line up EVER. Why keep a guy like him? At first I thought he'd be as good as Dumoulin.

I've not written off Perron until he gets time without Kunitz on his line.

Yes very surprised he has gone! I was reading an article about him over the weekend thinking what a musical genius he's been. Very diverse in what he's done & achieved.

Funny story about him & Luther Vandros when Vandros was an unknown.

Very shocked!

Im not sure this an exciting item. We are fighting for what the bottom wild card spot? If this is the case Id rather the tires to fall off and return to the celler to continue the rebuild. We shedding salary which was hanging us for a few years now and we can finally add when needed and smartly along with our prospects that seem to be progresing nicely at this point. Im kinda shocked where the pens are right now with the talent on the team though.

Right now the bottom wild card spot is what we're shooting for because, you know, baby steps, but the two NY teams are in nose dive mode and are only something like four points ahead of us. If our forwards not named Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin get it together, it is very conceivable we finish second in the Met.

Yah the flyers played the islanders and I was like this islanders team is ahead of us in the standings? The wheels have fell off there. The rangers always have our number so im not thinking of passing them. Im kinda hoping we just fall back to the cellar and stay there. We arent beating anybody in a 7 game series.

I'd prefer the Flyers to just miss the playoffs instead of tank. I don't want them getting a premier talent in this draft. Hextall is making some sound decisions that are unfortunately setting the team up for success. Until Pens start finishing more of the plentiful chances they generate, they won't be improving in the standings. Even with the relative floundering of the NY teams.

The analytics have deemed pdo the 'luck' part of hockey. They say it will all average out over time, although with some abnormal results being teams with bad stats having success - Avs & Calgary in the last couple of years. Now what does it say about shooting %? There is a 'league average', but how do teams fare over past years? Does it tie into pdo in any way?

We seem to make most goalies against us have super games so individual game pdo stats would have to be high for opposing teams - I realise that pdo is taken over larger sample sizes, but has anyone looked at that from a game prospective for us? Do teams on the lower end of your advanced stats scale have good pdo against us?

Another question is, will the horrible shooting % correct itself over the course of 10-20 games? If not it may be too late to get on that run we need. If it does then maybe we won't need a run, just some luck!

Yah this is taking some time to get use to. We normally just throw picks and prospects for vet players and damn the salary cap. Now we have all this cap space and I feel we should throw it at somebody ie stamkos or buff. But it seems we are holding course and wipe away more bloated contracts and stock pile our minors. should be interesting in a year or two as these picks finally start to show up. Ghost seems like a heck of 3rd round pick at this point. Needs some help learning the d side of his game but hes still young.

If playoffs are possible then keep the team together to give the young guys experience. That's what I hope the Pens do, get their game together make the playoffs & give this group some experience. If we play like poop, turn some players over but keep our young guys together with the core to give them time to play themselves into the team.

That's our biggest issue at the moment, too many new players trying to play in a team at the same time as chopping & changing the lines (that & a disgraceful shooting %)! I've heard a couple of players say it, that it's hard to get a combo going when the lines keep changing!!

I would love nothing more than Hextall to throw a massive long term contract at Byfuglien. It would be the absolute worst thing the team could do. If he's smart he'll stay patient. Maybe even move Giroux who is gonna well past his prime by the time they are competing again.

So you're saying that, if the Penguins aren't going to win in the next 2 years, trading Malkin and Crosby would be the smart move??? Giroux is 1 year younger than Crosby, 2 than Malkin, and they could be a player in 3 years.

Well, that is science. It is proven that once a man turns 28, his testes fall off and he loses an arm.
