Any talk on how all this stuff with Higgins unfolded?

as in, did the Canucks talk to him about his play at an earlier point or anything?

just curious.

thinking even if they have to waive Higgins, as long as the player replacing him is around 900k, it all should work out with the cap.

Seemed strange to hear Higgins was told to stay away from the team.

I think the team and Higgins have been doing this dance quietly behind the scenes since last year. Would explain why Higgins has looked so heartless and pitiful all season. JB probably told him he had no deal and time is up, you're getting waived. So Higgins probably said take it to the press and see if someone bites

I can understand the not playing, but announcing he was told to stay away from the team... maybe Higgins is a little sour.

but yeah, he hasn't looked great at all.

Was he told to stay away? I thought the only thing mentioned was he wouldn't be playing while they looked for a trade partner?

They were talking about it on 1040. Not sure if this is a standard procedure, just like getting canned and security escorting you out... just a precaution.

I thought I saw a couple tweets but can't find them.

Thanks, it does seem like a strange move as they need to keep him their active roster.

Higgins loves the BC bud ...he now realizes he will be far far away from it and that disappoints him greatly

Sbisa and Sutter will soon be back, more moves coming.

This was just put up,

http://www.tsn.ca/radio/v...siness-of-hockey-1.421299

they mention at the start, teams are interested in Higgins at a reduced price tag.

For sure, they will need make some moves soon. I think that points more to Higgins being waived in that case.

Higgins also won't be enough alone.

Pedan is easiest answer but one of Cracknell, Vey, Beiga, Weber, McCann and Virtanen will need to go as well as Hansen will apparently be back by the 14th.

I can't see Beiga being sent down and with Vey's improved play recently I think the team will be hesitant to lose him on waivers.

Weber seems like the obvious answer but I wonder if the team will be willing to lose one of their few RH D with a shot.

People are a little touchy around here, many poster openly admit to smoking the stuff but if you ever say a player likes it …. get the (frank) out

Higgins is a good guy, but he's old and his skills have obviously declined, it's time for him to leave….no hard feelings Chris but cya!!

Who beyond Pedan is waiver exempt?

Weber might have some value just because he shoots right.

I haven't minded Cracknell as 4th line centre. Good value for what he brings.

NHL players are still regular people who partake in similar things that non athletes do ...I don't think it's a bad thing if a a guy like him likes the occasional puff ...he was still a very serviceable player for a while ...he's just not getting any younger and is not that good anymore.

Much like KB he will be addition by subtraction
