Too much for a malcontent. Not looking to get him for free . But not overpayong either. - Maximum Signal
I have heard Drouin gets moved real soon (most likely NOT to the Sabres).
But I still like him as a player and to help increase our "young core".
The issue with trading Ennis or McGinn or Foligno (maybe) is that TB wants a young player to sign (RFA) for a low cap hit for a few years, so all of those players are most likely off the table (unless for each one, we take back a "bad" contract).
I would stick with Girgensons + Larsson + a draft pick I am sure they want. With those two players, we really dont have to take back much salary, but it may be a tipping point for getting the deal done.
I see you clearly don't want this player (because of what the potential cost would be).
But the Sabres are fairly set for centers (in the future) so to drop both Girgensons and Larsson does not seem like a horrible move. I want to keep Girgs, but it seems like he has regressed and I think Larsson is gone by deadline, so to me its a win / win situation.
But if we could score Drouin, we could have a pretty incredible top 6 in the next few years.
O'Reilly, Kane, Eichel, Reinhart, Drouin, top 5 2016 pick. The bottom 6 could be a whole bunch of things, but signing a few players could happen. If the Sabres truly move Ennis, McGinn, and Foligno (I wish Moulson, but no one is taking that contract) we could have plenty of room for a Stamkos singing and much more. (might have room for him without trading those players)
Alright I will wake up now, cause clearly I am dreaming with all that happening. |

Its been said they are looking for a similiar young player. To me that says Reinhart but maybe if we add to ennis or girgs they would consider that. Reinhart or girgs would be a tough pill to swallow and im not sure i would have the balls to do it. We are talking about a potential star in Drouin tho - MCGUIZZY
Sam or Gus would be hard to swallow
I have to get over my Gus hard on I might be willing to part ways with him |

Says you . I think we need to restock the pantry so we can afford to overpay . Drouin does not have the pedigree of a Johansson yet.. Making moves this season is pointless . Stay the course and make moves in the summer. Unless a deal is too good to pass up. - Maximum Signal
Agreed, there's so much more flexibility at the draft anyways when cap situations are cleared up and picks are determined. |

Let's be honest in our eyes it's overpayment that's beacuse we love Gus but remember we all used to love marcus but then he kept on regressing . And remember there was a rumor that boston wanted vanek with Marcus for Tyler and we said no . And half of us were happy because we all thought Marcus was going to be the next big thing...
Maybe Gus is going to regress like Marcus - gerbe75pts
I tend to agree with you, I think Folingo is done ($2-3 mil for a often 4th liner is not going to happen for him) and Gigrs may still be struggling from injury last year / regressing.
Although I do like Girgensons, I would make that trade. |

Did we get that outplayed yesterday? Because it at least looked pretty even to me. We got outshot but we had the lead in the third and our goaltender was good. - Zschalberg
We got out shot and out chanced. Ullmark stopped a breakaway, robbed Stafford.
We played pretty well offensively, but our defense kind of sucked |

How is making moves pointless now ??? A young winger is available you try to trade for him to help jack for next year . Stay the course ?? - gerbe75pts
Not rushing to 9th place for a mediocre pick . Give them more time to really see what you have before tearing it apart . Too reactionary , sometimes the best trade is the one that does not happen. |

I was not going to trade the first pick and 1 player is not going to save us we will still be picking one or in the top 4 IMO |

Can you once enjoy the win and move on. Some folks are not happy unless they are miserable.

Couldn't you make the case Sam is more valuable than drouin today? Same level draft pick, same age category, more productive. |

Only way it is Sam (I say 0% chance it would happen) is if it was Stamkos and Drouin. Not saying I would want to, but that is the only way. Both teams say no there, so that wont happen. |

Sam first offense player taking in the draft 2nd .
Drouin was the 3rd that year
If they asked for Sam I would pass |

The Jets reminded me of what we were between 2009 and 2013: a poorly-constructed team with a core that won't get the job done. I know the last 3 years have been tough but i couldn't watch another team like that again. They have a lot of assets on that team - I would think that they could do a pretty fast rebuild. - Slump Buster
I disagree a lot. They have a lot of young talent. Ehlers, Schiefele, Trouba. Hockeysfuture has them ranked #1 right now. Plus they have veteran talent and leadership in ladd, little, wheeler, byfuglien. I'd say they are constructed pretty well considering just a couple years ago they were terrible. |

We also, by my count, had 4 2-on-1 chances. Both teams looked bad on defense. I'm just saying, it didn't look like Winnipeg was taking it to us and we somehow stole the game from them. If anything I'll say it was 60/40 for the Peg, but still not that bad. |

I actually think they are going through a mini rebuild on the sneak now and will likely trade both Ladd and Byfuglien for as much as they can get at the deadline.
That is what I would do with the likely long term, large dollar deals both of those players are going to want at their respective ages. |

They are a #1 center away. Unfortunately that's hard to come by.
They also have Morrissey, Petan and Lemuiex |

I dont think it is "too much" to give up, that is the value of the players.
Girgensons : 60 pts - 169 games (.355 pt/gm)
Drouin : 40 pts - 89 games (.45 pt/gm)
