I'd beg to differ. Tampa will never match what he'll get in FA, they can't.

He's their franchise player, if they truly believed he wanted to stay they would move money around, I'm sure...especially with the Drouin situation now, kind of opens up an opportunity for them to shed at least 1 unwanted contract

Stamkos will get the richest contract in Hockey. Whether he is worth it or not will come down to if he can stop regressing like he has since the injury. Its been 100 games now. He looks worse every year.

Tampa Fans....would you agree that he hasn't been the same player for a while now? I watch every TB game on nights when they play before the Oilers which is a lot, and if everyone gets a second team I'd probably claim them as mine. I'd like to hear a fan's opinion who see's them live and watches every games opinion.

You know the internet is full of sites you can go to prior to making idiotic comments eh?

Stammer had 43 goals last year. Yeah that's pretty terrible...

Regression is an age driven factor. There is a clear downward trend in Stamkos' game. Any team, including Tampa, that signs him for $80m plus over 8 years is going to cap prison for a very long time. People who are saying that Stamkos is different and won't be affected by age are some of the same people that said LeCavalier would be a top scorer well into his thirties.

Players that rely on their skating to blow past a Dman will see their game deteriorate as soon as they lose one step from their top speed gear. Stamkos no longer routinely beats Dmen wide with his big speed. Regression is a measurable result that can be observed in everyday play.

It's probably because they don't want their own idiotic fan base to butcher his name repeatedly!

sad that this wouldn't be able to happen with Hartnell again since the Pens fan has since passed away from cancer.
