What does everyone think about Kyle Okposo in free agency this summer? I know him, Moulson and Tavares are all still good friends as they visited Matt after their last game before the break. |

I really hope they don't throw him ot wolves against WSH for his first start back... good lord.. Boston would be much better tomorrow night. - JVince11
I think I read something that said he's getting the start tomorrow against Boston. |

That leaves a might big hole in our defense. It would guarantee a top four pick in draft though. But, I'm not sure Tampa would go for it, Carrier value has to be pretty low at this point. I would see if I could start a conversation with Tampa at Ennis, Bailey/Bap, 2nd rd pick. - sskkoo1
I am also fairly certain that one of them would have to be included. Even if Olofsson and Estephan have higher ceilings... Bailey and Bap are more NHL ready.
I don't know if emptying the cupboards of offensive talent for another offensive talent is the best choice. I think if we are selling prospects... it needs to be for top end DMen.
I personally would really rather not trade ANY MORE prospects though. |

I want nothing to do with the guy. His retina detachment would keep me away.
I think it's stupid he continues to play hockey |

Really depends on what our needs are come July 1st. I hope the Sabres focus on fixing the defense more than anything else, but getting a quality top 6 winger or two should be considered as well. Here's to hoping Ennis heals up and starts playing to his ability. We need another quality winger to play on either side. As for Okposo, he's a decent option. Not bad, not great. Inconsistent but quality. Definitely an upgrade over Moulson, that's for sure. Even though they play opposite wings. |

If he's starting tomorrow, 0% unless it's injury. I'd think they want him in there with the real speed of the game no matter what. Plus it's a back-to-back, so I think they'd rather keep Johnson fresh. |

I have been a big fan of him in potential offseason plans but most folks here said that they "know" he is going to demand top line winger money in the 5-7M range and we shouldn't pay him that.
I like his 200 ft game and scoring upside. Could be a nice RW to have here to put back and forth with Ennis on the top lines. Let Kane and Girgensons play some LW then... top 6 could be pretty solid.
Kane - ROR - Okposo/Reinhart
Girgensons - Eichel - Reinhart/Ennis/Okposo |

From what I've read he isn't signing there because he wants 1st line money. He isn't a 1st line player on the team we are trying to build. Also, he is probably a shade too old considering we want to be a contender in two years. |

I agree with not wanting to deplete prospects, but if you can add Drouin into our top 6 and then draft Puljujarvi, Matthews, or Laine, than I think we're fine for at least next year. We'll still have one of Bap/Bailey and Fasching will be in Rochester too, and who knows maybe a kid like Carrier will take a big step by next year, he's still young. |

Everyone wants another winger here. Matthews would be amazing. Puljujarvi, Laine, and Tkachuk are other popular ones...
But I honestly think we need another top end D prospect before another top end forward prospect. If the pick isn't there for D then so be it and we end up with a great talent either way but man we need another blue chipper on the blue line IMO

The Sabres are within 5 goals allowed or more (Buffalo has given up 117, I counted all teams 112+) of 16 other teams.
They are within only 7 other teams using the same criteria in goals scored.
Basically it shows they're having a tougher time scoring compared to the rest of the NHL rather than defending. |

even with a back up and a rookie goaltender... and apparently an awful set of dmen like bogo, franson, and gorges like everyone says they are.
That is good data to digest... I'd be curious of outside of Matthews if the others would be able to come straight to the NHL though.
I had heard that Matthews is probably on the level of maybe MacKinnion but below McDavid and Eichel. Above Reinhart in terms of talent. |

Agreed. Which is why I'm in full tank mode and really looking forward to this draft. We have two big holes on this team, a scoring winger, and a top pair d-man to play with Risto. Picking 1-4 fills one of those holes. If, we get Matthews I have no problem letting Reinhart play the wing.

I thinks this is exactly what TMGM is is thinking, from the holes to fill and the idea that it wouldn't hurt to finish poorly again. Part of me thinks that is why Lehner has been recalled. |

Lehner needs ice time now that he is healed. Better to get it out of the way this season than wait till next season. We all are hoping next year would be the show all of what the team has become. |
