Looks like the Devils have no interest in picking up a young goal scorer as how many have been moved in the period that kovy and parise have departed ? If Ceci for drouin is plausable then I don't see why the Devils wouldn't be very interested as we have a pretty crowded blue line and as it stands today wont be getting a bonafide top prospect with their pick unless they win one of the lottos so why would they not be in the hunt with a first round pick that I think should be available and a dman or two who might be available in the right deal I.e Severson but more likely Merril or Gelinas lol

This will be a trend for franchise players with contracts running out. This was LA confining to the trends of the market for players like Kopitar. They don't grow on trees and he's a proven winner. This was a no-brainer in my book.

there is no sweepstakes for Stammer........if he doesnt sign an extension he will stick it out with Bolts to end of year and hope for a playoff appearance.

I wanted the Habs to draft Kopitar in the Crosby draft at #5. Instead they went with that Price guy...pff. Interesting to wonder how the league dynamic might have been different if that happened. First, Kopitar would have been ruined by a series of undeserving, yet french speaking coaches and hence traded for peanuts or fled via FA by now. Leafs were the next team to take a goalie at #21. Maybe they take Price instead and subsequently trade him to the Bruins for Andrew Raycroft?

So Price isn't a bad runner-up choice to AK considering #'s 6-10 in that draft were Brule, Skille, Setoguchi, Brian Lee and Luc Bourdon (RIP).

FWIW, I think Kopitar is worth $10M in today's market. I think the league screwed up by not making the max amount a single player can earn something less than 20% of the cap (12? 15?) but that's another story.
