No one wants Brown with that contract.
- Gramps28

Correction, NO FANS want him.

GMs are a different story. They like to think that they can right the ship with some players.

Look at Mike Richards or even LeCavalier (probably being the biggest one). 2 guys no one thought would either be traded or playing in the NHL again.

Roberto Luongo even. There isn't a whole lot but GMs are different than fans, this is what most people don understand.

Giroux. Staal brothers. Perry. Getzlaf. Subban. Soon to be Stamkos (if more than10.5) are not worth their contracts.

Subban is borderline.

Getzlaf and perry will make 10 Mil in dollars, but their cap hits are below $9 mil.

The Kings will regret that signing down the road He ain't worth that much and NEVER will be but another GM gets the moron of the month award
- holeinone

Yea if the kings get another cup in the next 2-3 years they are sure gonna regret it ...
When you have a legit chance to win a stanley cup you go all in and worry about the cap later.

That's tough talk from a fan of a team that employs Malkin at his contract. Kopitar> Malkin.

Different situation. Richards was signed for 1 year, 1 million. Lecavalier is retiring. No one is taking that Brown contract.

Wasn't saying players with $10m contracts. I'm saying in general, MOST contracts that are around 9m are going to be hard to trade if a team were to decide to trade said players. Kopitar getting 8/80 was what we thought all along. Would the Kings have preferred 8/70 OR 8/75 OF COURSE. But it wasn't going to happen..... I honestly thought Perry and Getzlaf were 9.5 and 9

I agree I was just bringing it up in comparison. Kopitar makes 500k more and is signed 2 years longer.

Correction. no GM wants that term anymore. Both of the guys you mentioned are on one deal. Yeah, Vinny isn't but he agreed to retire at the end of this season. If he didn't, he wouldn't have been traded.

toews 10.5
kopitar 10
malkin 9.5
getzlaf 8.3
giroux 8.3
bergeron 6.9

the only one that stands out as better value is bergeron

the rest seem close enough.

i'm starting to re-think where stamkos fits in after looking at it this way. somewhere between malkin and kopitar seems right.

You need to consider what year the contracts where signed as well..

What would Malkin/Toews sign for today??

Statement From Florida Panthers Television Analyst Denis Potvin:

"My choice of words at the conclusion of the Vancouver game on Monday should have been more appropriate. In the passion of the moment and under the circumstances of how the game ended, they came out wrong. For that I'm going to extend my sincere apologies to Daniel Sedin, Trevor Linden and the Canucks organization."

toews signed last year, so not much different

malkin was 2 years ago, i don't know, i'm guessing another mil for him.

Another mil each...It's the term/player age that makes deals look so bad...

they all have similar term and all come with the same problems.

cost of doing business in the top end of the ufa market.

i'd rather have 1 of these guys over bolland and clarkson...
