Pickard is pretty good, he will be a very good back up. I dont think they trade him, they will move Berra or waiver him to make room for Picks.

Not sure what he resigns for, I assume around the 1.1m mark

Edit: Nevermind, we have a new back up now

mmmm... i'm wondering who might be available next year with long-term starter potential for the leafs. scratch pickard from the list.
- Tumbleweed

Pickard could be that guy in a few years, but still needs a year or 2 to be a back up to really get his feet wet in this league.

I think if he is put in a starter role next season he gets exposed too easily. Guy is good and has a lot of potential.

There are ways to keep Lucic

Don't sign Lewis trade Brown(or get rid of the contract in the expansion draft), Nolan, and or Clifford

Buyout Greene (1.667 in savings) while the cap goes up a little maybe 1.3MM this next year.

- KINGS67

I agree. Except for not signing lewis. Most underrated player IMO. He's a swiss army knife. Get rid of Nolan, or Clifford. The bottom 6 needs work anyways, clean house.

I feel bad for Greene. He has all but been forgotten about. Even Jim Fox had to apologize for not bringing him up.

Kopitar:
Is he worth 10mil, well by comparison to Toews he is. A 2 time cup winner, amazing 200 foot player, that is 29 and give you 3-4 more Cup contending years, and then still be a solid player for potential rebuild... I think so. He also led the Kings in scoring, for something 8years in a row. Naturally, all of these long term deals do not really end well as an elite player, however if you look at some of them, you can still contribute. But to those who say he is not worth it... who do you replace him with? if you cannot with an answer for under 9 million dollars, then the price is perfect.

Stamkos:
I would love him to land on my beloved Wings. They certainly have a lot of personel to throw at him and can still ice a similar line up that they have now... but one snag. Just not KH's style unfortunately. So, my guess is, he will land in TB.

Drouin:
This one is a bit off to me. I think his agent may be playing more games than the player or Stevie Y here. I certainly would think Drouin wants to play with the big club, but if he would have played his way on (like Larkin did) he would have no issues staying. Something tells me this end with a new agent and kiss and make up situation or he ends up in STL for Shattenkirk.

What if Greene retires? No penalty right? He can move into an office job with the org. Lewis should stay and would probably sign for a decent amount. If not he can be a role player somewhere else but then one of the kids would need to be groomed into a PK specialist. The big elephant in the room is Brown's contract.

If anyone thinks that Stamkos will get less than 10 if he's leaving need to give their head a shake. The SMALL chance it happens I'd say 9.75+....

Stamkos could do what Hossa did and take a 1 year deal with someone (like a chicago - win a cup - stack his points) and go for 11M next year although don't see that happening at all - just putting it out there.

I'd say if he's going to be signed by mid-Feb at 9.5-10.5M by the lighting otherwise he'll be traded - and not close to the deadline. Yzerman won't take the risk of him declining a deal

He has to agree to a trade. It's in Stamkos' court not Yzerman's.

I'll throw in a 3rd if you keep a million of his salary for each year remaining on his contract or a 4th if you just take Tom Gilbert in the deal
