Unfortunately we did not have a crystal ball to see into the future at the time.
The Sabres are slow, including Reinhart. He moves at a snails pace. He is slow to make decisions with the puck. I know he is young but he makes horrible mistakes, does not play with grit, and is a painfully slow skater.

Is it more or less fun rooting for a top pick this year. I feel like anything after Eichel is just a bonus. God forbid we turn into the Oilers. - TheSabresTaco
Well if you finish last again, you'll have been worse for those initial years
I can't believe the amount of people that actually want to see Lehner fail. It's baffling to me.
Why be a fan of a team if your goal is for them to fail? - HonkFortheGoose
To get Mcdavid or Eichel.
Jokes aside i'd agree people are going to be like wolves on him when he hasnt gotten a chance

There will be more "told ya so!" from Sabres posters than Sens posters, that's for sure.

I think people need to go to WGR550.com and listen to what Biron had to say about Lehner today. He had a lot to say about the injury, the type of competitor he is, his initial thoughts about the trade and all that.
I think it's an interesting piece since he's a former goalie himself and wasn't a huge fan of the trade right from the get go. He had a lot of good stuff to say, and some of it had to do with tempering expectations due to the ankle injury and what to expect with him coming back from it.

Expecting someone to fail and wanting them to fail are completely different - Buffalo--Sabres
To a degree, yes. Except everyone that's saying he's going to fail will come in here and say "I told you so" if he does. Meaning they're hoping he will so they can say they were right.

What he didnt mention is that Lehner is a hot head that lets his emotions get the best of him. Hopefully he can get over that

he could get hurt, he could get shelled
he wasn't special in rochester and the b's have been crashing the net lately

He's probably going to struggle. I'm not saying he's going to come in and pitch a shutout or anything. But the team needs to give him time to re-acclimate. He's missed 3 months. When Miller suffered his high ankle injury he was only out for a month and his numbers when he came back were pretty pedestrian. It took him a good 2+ weeks to get back into a rhythm.

I mean its fine that he shows fire and intensity. I like that, but he needs to keep it under control and not get rattled like he has in the past - MCGUIZZY
I agree. And he knows it's probably his biggest weakness. He's addressed it to the media before and said that he's very conscious of it and working on not letting things get to him.
