Drafting defence is almost as tricky as drafting goalies. Still think its worth the risk of drafting high.
Also Gudbranson and Larsson are solid defenders. Offence isn't always the best defence. Its also a bit early to judge Jones, Reinhart, Murray or Dumba as disappointments.

Have you been to one of the kids games? I have he is going to be a good one. Plus he already has powerful slap shot even for the NHL.

Me neither. Scoring forwards is a need to win.

Agreed .. people will say we need a OEL that's great and all but it's a huge risk to take your highest pick that you suffered through all year on a defensive that might take 5 years to develop to be that person or just be a complete bust

Even with OEL Last year Phoenix was terrible why are they good this year because of the young centers and wingers their offense is very exciting

Girgensons is an injury prone player. Not sure why people on here think he deserves over 4 million a year on a long term deal. Too much for a player like him

They're solid defensemen but they're not the defenseman that you should be getting with top five pick. do you agree? drafting in the second round you get those players

it's not worth it when you could draft the same exact player in the second round or even greater

The past has nothing to do with future players. It's like saying you can't ever draft a wing #1 overall because nail Yakupov was a bust there. If a guys good he's good and you take them. Florida isn't sad because they took ekblad #1.

It could be a fluke but they are getting offense from all the rookies Plus OEL is playing like the way he did last year great hockey they seem to be firing on all cylinders.

Not Exactly there's usually just one or two players that are special every three years or so for defenseman or even rare in top 5

If you look at the past drafts you can get All Star defenseman in the late rounds and second round picks that's a better way of drafting
