As a non-sabres fan I think you guys tried to force the speed-up of the rebuild too much and overpaid on kane and lehner. O'reilly looked expensive too but you did have a ton of assets to move and he's worked out.

that said there are four first rounders and one second rounder who are 24 yrs. old and younger...jack Eichel is 19, sam reinhart is 20 and rasmus Ristolainen is 21...all are first rounders with top-notch skills and represent the nucleus of the new core moving forward...

and the sabres still have a ton of prospects in the system

Point being he wont be enough to land a drouin. I really dont like the idea of moving Ennis. Im rather confident he will bounce back based on his body of work over the past few years

Ennis for Drouin should be possible since Drouin is a complete gamble at this point, but we all know it won't be enough for TB so I stay away from Drouin.

I want to see Ennis come back into form through the end of this season, and I think he will if he can stay healthy. He's shown to be a very consistent producer over the last few seasons and I'd at least like to see the results of him playing meaningful games with quality partners...............if we trade him after that, when his value is higher, so be it.

Alternatively, the Bo Horvat trade is looking quite good for us at the moment, not to mention that without him (that 9th), our rebuild/re-tool would be much further off.

With Schenids is net, no way we finish 6th overall the next year (Virtanen), or get Kesler to demand a trade (McCann).

So you base the trade on what, exactly? The half of a hockey game Lehner has played, like some Sabres fans? The kid Ottawa got that is 18 and hasn't made an NHL team yet?
Obviously not based on the potential (I say probability) that we have our starting goalie for the foreseeable future, on a very easy contract for the next few years.

Good trade/bad trade means nothing now. We'll see in a couple years.
