To Lefty . Getting Reilly is a dream but that is besides the point. Any Leaf player of value not signed by July 1 , make an OS just to remind them thank you very much you dirt bags . Drive up their prices

Good plan. Corrado an RFA. You could get him back.

The 3 heaviest forwards on the team are Cracknel at 216, Virtanen & Etem at 212.
All 3 of them weren't on the team last year, last year it was Matthias and Kassian as the heaviest, I like the change.

- A_SteamingLombardi

Agreed, nice little mix of grit and skill, as opposed to what-ever the (frank) Matthias brought (not much).

Would be nice to to see Etem pot a few.

Agreed, apparently his play has been quite suspect on a very good NYR team.

Life without the Sedins. W are getting a glimpse of it right now. Hank is really struggling. Playing very injured.

Hanks replacement is and will be # 53. We can stop worrying now.

- VANTEL

I think when Sutter comes back he should be #1 center and hank/dank are wingers.

Not Many defencemen in the UFA pool this year. Yandle will be cheaper then Bigg Buff, he'll also be less likely to have a horizontal growth spurt that will leave his team saying dang.....
Better offensively then Edler.
I think he could be had for Hamhuis +
Then trade Edler for a RHD or Drouin.

Cool name and avatar, I used to have a 69 notch back with a 351 Windsor back in 76. Best car I ever owned, and worst time to own it I was 16, young and dumb and full of ___

I have a 1970 Boss 302 sitting in the garage right now...just trying to decide whether to restore or sell...

Mine was a 74 firebird with a 400 big block, limited edition only a few 100 produced. Beat any car off the line, left a 60's thunderbird with the 429 like it was in park .....With the roar that thing produced my friend knew 2 blocks away I was coming. Miss that beast....thank god I dont have it with gas prices the way they are
- SMBDragon

Real nice ride.

I had a 78 Trans Am 400/4gear the thing really did haul ass but what a poorly built piece o crap. The pre'76 Trans Ams/Firebirds were so much better my buddy had a '76 SD 455 man did that thing haul with a few tweaks. I tried a V8 1980 TA with turbo and all that was was a turbo turkey...Pontiac turbocharged a 350 V8 and couldnot get it to break 16 sec in the 1/4 mile

My old 69 GTO 400 with Hydrostatic Tranny was a freaking beast. Much quicker in a stright line than my Boss 302 but the Boss has much more midrange torque and tope end which is what they were built for for their racing circuits.

Drouin not doing well in the minors right now.
No thanks to Yandle.
Trading Edler for Hamonic is redundant.

Buff is a Legit #1 defence man. You go after him if there is a chance. IDC if people think he is fat and lazy. He is a legit#1. The guy is a beast.

He's also going to want minimum 7x7, no thanks, I'd rather suffer with what we have and draft trade for young D that we can develop into a Buff.

Drouin is Hodgsen 2.0
Handle is overrated
Hamonic will be in Winnipeg by the trade deadline.

As Lefty pointed out at the beginning of this blog our Defence is the worst in NHL since 2011. I personally don't remember the last time it has been this bad. Byfuglien instantly makes the defence and the team better. Nobody wants to spend money to get better. Drafting is a good idea yes but free agency is still a viable option. I like seeing a GM that is busy.

Not sure if Drouin is Hodgson 2.0 just yet.

Yandle we don't need we have plenty of soft Dmen.

Hamonic would be good to have here.

I was exaggerating about Drouin. Not so with Yandle and Hamonic.

Hamonic would be a good pick up but I said months ago he would end up in Winnipeg and I am sticking with that.

I don't want him spending money on a player who will be on the downside of his career at the end of our rebuild and making it hard to resign Horvat, Virtanen, Hutton, McCann etc. There's better uses for that money. I agree that he should look into FA, but let's try and target young players like Reilly or Jones in RFA and see if we can't force their teams to make a decision to pay them or let them go. Keep in mind, with the dollar falling, it's very likely that at some point the cap will start to go down, which will make every bit of cap space even MORE valuable than now.

If you can get Byfuglien for 5 years at 6.3 to 6.5 you do it. JMO. You're right though 7 years is too long.

The dollar won't stay this low for long, nor will oil. If I had a couple hundred thou I would put it all in oil.
